Publisher's Summary

The first book in 25 years from Jerry Seinfeld features his best work across five decades in comedy.

Since his first performance at the legendary New York nightclub “Catch a Rising Star” as a 21-year-old student in autumn of 1975, Jerry Seinfeld has written his own material and saved everything. “Whenever I came up with a funny bit, whether it happened on a stage, in a conversation, or working it out on my preferred canvas - the big yellow legal pad - I kept it in one of those old-school accordion folders,” Seinfeld writes. “So I have everything I thought was worth saving from 45 years of hacking away at this for all I was worth."

For this book, Jerry Seinfeld has selected his favourite material, organised decade by decade. One brilliantly crafted observation after another, listeners will witness the evolution of one of the great comedians of our time and gain new insights into the thrilling but unforgiving art of writing stand-up comedy.

Terrible, this is not a book

Audible: "Hey Jerry we'll pay you a million to write a book:
Jerry: "No, not interested in writing a book thank you"
Audible: "How about a collection of your worst, hackiest jokes?"
Jerry: "That's a great idea"

All of Seinfeld's jokes ever

This is not an autobiography but rather a collection of all of the best jokes that Jerry Seinfeld has ever written, in the chronological order that they were written in. Highly entertaining when you don't want to envelop yourself in a deep narrative.

It's anything but a book

I was expecting this to be some sort of Jerry's autobiography rather than 413 of his jokes. I had some fun listening to it though; Jerry's performance is always great.

Universal comedy

If you know you’re not buying an autobiography but a collection of what Seinfeld thinks are his best all time jokes then you won’t be disappointed. Seinfeld surely must be one of the greatest comic minds of the twentieth century. While you do lose a little without his body language and gestures, his reading of exquisitely logical silliness is perfect. This is audible at its best. If you love the show you will have heard much of this material, but it is interesting to see the timeline and how a good chunk was actually written 15 years before Seinfeld aired, and is still funny today. Seinfeld has a way of finding the absurd in the everyday. This never gets old. It is universal comedy.

Is he really that funny?

Without an ensemble he is not that funny most of the time, rather, just a critic of human nature. Enjoyed parts, but he needs props, like the cast of his show to make his ideas funnier.

Fans will like this

At first it was a bit weird hearing Jerry read this book as it seemed to struggle in the translation of doing a bit to simply reading a bit where it lacked some of the ompf.

Having another voice do the intro title to each joke was mechanical and lacked any humanity. I actually thought it was computer generated until hearing the credits.

Structure of the book was sound and was refreshing to have Jerry bring it home with material I’d not heard before.

Once I got into the rhythm of listening to Jerry,
the book got more enjoyable the longer I listened.

Though only fans on Jerry will enjoy this.

It is what it is

"Business is business, rules are rules, a deal's a deal, what's done is done, but when we go in there, as long as we know what's what and who's who, then whatever happens, happens and it is what it is."
Non-stop comedy genius and nonsense. Seinfeld's well polished brilliance shines brighter than ever.

Great light-hearted comedy by Jerry.

A nice option for Jerry Seinfeld fans. This is mainly a compilation of his jokes/bits he's compiled over the decades (not a biography). Good to listen to distract yourself and put you in a pleasant frame of mind.
