About this listen

What is the link between the abduction of a little girl and a dead prostitute?

When the body of a prostitute is found, followed by the discovery of children locked in an attic, DI Gus McGuire is handed the case. But what at first appears to be a simple murder soon turns into an international manhunt for the members of a twisted child trafficking ring.

McGuire, who is suffering with his own emotional problems, must pick his way through the web of deceit and uncover the truth in time before the body count rises. Can McGuire identify The Matchmaker before it’s too late? And can he trust those he is working with?

I really enjoyed this book, I felt that I got to know the characters-good and bad, and the story was really well written. It made me “feel”
: I felt sorry for the children
: I felt angry at the bad people
: I felt anxious for the detectives
: I felt happy when the bad people were caught
: I felt so sad to think that much of what happened in the book actually happens in real life. The more attention that can be generated by whatever means, the better.
Well done Liz Mistry!!!

A great story

i almost gave up on this half way, due to the overly complex plot. With so many back stories, it was hard to keep track. But then the team gelled and the story came together. i enjoyed the build up and resolution at the end, even though there were a few glitches in the procedural aspect (eg. clues dropped that should've prompted immediate action and escalation but didn't). Not sure about the operational capacity of this Force either. I'd like to think that if mass murder occurred on this scale, there'd be more than an a couple of unarmed detectives on hand... i will read the next book in the series though.

A bit far-fetched in parts, but I couldn’t put it down. Would read this author again.

Hard to believe that paedophiles can be so vile
