About this listen

After a Navy pilot inexplicably loses control of his stealth fighter, he stumbles upon a global conspiracy, and embarks on a thrilling chase filled with espionage and betrayal.

“A high-octane and adrenaline-powered thriller… Strap in and hold on!”–Jack Carr, Former Navy SEAL sniper and #1 New York Times bestselling author of the James Reece Terminal List series

TOP GUN instructor Colt Bancroft has just catapulted off the USS Abraham Lincoln, his F-35C Joint Strike Fighter trailing blue and yellow flame as he climbs into the night sky off the California coast.

When he is sent to investigate a series of mysterious lights floating dangerously close to his aircraft carrier, disaster strikes. His jet becomes unresponsive as it rolls inverted and enters a nosedive aimed right at the aircraft carrier’s unsuspecting escort cruiser…

What follows is a tale of heroism and betrayal, spycraft and suspense, and aerial combat against an unexpected adversary.

To clear his name and unmask a traitor, Colt must survive a dangerous game of spy-vs-spy, where trusting the wrong person could cost him his life. To stop the enemy from hitting their ultimate target, Colt must use every ounce of his skill and training…and uncover the identity of the UNKNOWN RIDER.

From author Jack Stewart, a former US Navy Top Gun instructor pilot, comes an exhilarating military thriller that’s packed with high-octane action and puts the listener behind the controls of a modern jet fighter. Perfect for fans of Tom Clancy and Dale Brown.

Ray Porter has a great voice and brings every story to life. This was a good listen and an interesting story. Worth a read that won’t be the best on your shelf.

Great scenes but a little drawn out

ray porters narration was great as usual. The set up of the story was good but the last few hours got more and more frustrating. I could follow the general storyline, it was far fetched but exciting.., but how the characters decided to react in the situation seemed unbelievable, especially deciding not to communicate with the ship, and plot holes like the targets machine gun disappeared, helicopter not seeming to react when they are on same frequency and would have heard the situation unfolding. surely the author could have worked out a way for the story to keep moving while maintaining sensible characters. it was nice having some female characters though, even if they were described in a way that was a bit cliche. I won't be listening to the sequel.

a bit frustrating

Hesitantly of character dialogue is frustrating.

A top-gun pilot unable to communicate he saw lights in the sky and loss of flight control.

Painfully restricted storyline dialogue.

Simply outstanding! I loved every bit of the book and can’t wait to see what unfolds in books two and three.

Really, really enjoyed this debut series! Just rewound the book and going again. I cannot wait for book 2! I love this genre and love Ray Porter! I never thought another man would make me fall in love with his voice!

Not sure if I left a previous review. But just in case, simply magnificent!
