Den 19. september 1944 står mejslet ind i de fleste lidt ældre politifolks hukommelse som den mest skæbnesvangre dag i dansk politis historie – det var den dag, hvor den tyske besættelsesmagt under dække af en falsk luftalarm overfaldt og arresterede politifolk over hele landet, hvorefter efterfølgende i alt 1.912 politifolk blev deporteret ned til de frygtede tyske koncentrationslejre, hvor opholdet kom til at vare i mere end syv måneder.
Mange af landets politifolk undgik dog heldigvis tyskernes anslag, og i denne artikel berettes om, hvordan nogle politifolk fra politikasernen i Aalborg klarede frisag og slap udenom tyskernes overfald den 19. september 1944.
