Termina comunque gli studi nel 1956, laureandosi in filosofia e prosegue la carriera universitaria come professore.
Solo agli inizi degli anni Sessanta si sente pronto a intraprendere un tipo di lavoro diverso: aiutare altri esseri umani a vivere la stessa esperienza da lui vissuta. Nel 1964 Osho inizia a organizzare Campi di Meditazione durante i quali utilizza delle tecniche in grado di aiutare a cogliere quel "silenzio dei silenzi" in cui la nostra vera natura si manifesta.
