Sigmund Freud, geboren am 6. Mai 1856 in Freiberg in Mähren als Sigismund Schlomo Freud, gestorben am 23. September 1939 in London, ein österreichischer Neuropathologe, Tiefenpsychologe, Kulturtheoretiker und Religionskritiker, hielt diese 5 Vorlesungen über Psychoanalyse im September 1909 zur 20-jährigen Gründungsfeier an der Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Sigmund Freud gilt bekanntermaßen als Begründer der Psychoanalyse, die bis heute Anwendung findet und Pflichtlektüre für jeden Psychologie-Studenten und -Interessierten ist. Freud widmete die im Verlag Franz Deuticke verlegten Reden dem Präsidenten der Clark University, G. Stanley Hall.
