Story
People don't buy from people they like. No! Your buyer doesn't care about you or your product or service. It's not your job to overcome objections, it's your buyer's. Closing isn't a skill of good salespeople; it's the skill of weak salespeople. Price isn't the main reason salespeople lose the sale. Gap Selling shreds traditional and closely held sales beliefs that have been hurting salespeople for decades. For years, salespeople have embraced a myriad of sales tactics and belief systems that have unknowingly created many of the issues they have been trying to avoid.

Story
It seems like magic when some new gadget seems to know what we want before we know ourselves. But why does some design feel intrinsically good, and why do some designs last forever, while others disappear? User Friendly guides listeners through the hidden rules governing how design shapes our behaviour, told through fascinating stories such as what the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island reveals about the logic of the smartphone; and how the pressures of the Great Depression and World War II created our faith in social progress through better product design....

Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints.

Publisher's Summary
This book is for organizations starting their UX journey. It will help to address the basics such as defining what UX is; the importance of research; how UX is a process and not a job title; and where business value comes from improving efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction.
There is practical guidance for building a business case and identifying the key investments required in people and process that will bring about the change needed to deliver success. Implementing UX is brought to life through the UX Lifecycle, a methodology framework that was born out of real life successes. At the heart of the UX process is the most important stakeholder - the user!
Clive and Jeremy have helped businesses from start-ups to enterprises derive value from UX. While running their own UX consultancy, they created and applied the UX Lifecycle. Since then they have both continued to grow their knowledge through implementing UX solutions and learning from others. This book will answer the questions that they have been asked time and again by businesses seeking to embrace and leverage UX.

Waste of time
If you would like to learn anything about UX, don't waste your time with this book. You will learn nothing at all.
It does not teach you anything about UX, only about the managerial processes that are suppose to be implemented in order to have a good UX.
I found myself skipping long minutes in different chapters without feeling I missed anything. It just continued to repeat the same managerial mantras about how important is everything. Same stuff you find in books about disciplines like QA, Marketing, etc...
Nothing about UX.

Basic UX overview
This book provided a good birds eye view of UX but it felt overly simplified and surface level. Gems like "UX is a process and not a position" are often framed with obvious comments like "UX involves change which can cause friction in an organization."
The reading was excellent.
This is a good book for business people wanting to learn about UX who have never heard the term before. But if you really want to implement UX in a company you will need more in-depth resources. If you're a UXer already hoping to learn more about the process and business impact this book may be worth a skim but overall maybe a pass.

Great book to read not a great one to listen to
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
This is a very informative and well written book. But, it's not a great book to listen to. It's the type of book you want to read.

A good intro to the business aspects of UX
Although it isn't well reflected in the book's name - it does follow up to its premise in the subtitle.
This book is indeed an entry-level rundown on the business and managerial aspects of handling the topic of user experience in product companies. All important bases are covered, and I feel that executives that require some reinforcement of their knowledge on what UX is - will benefit from this short and to-the-point book.
Don't expect this title to teach you about UX, it's not the purpose here.
Also, loved the narration, it made the listening easier, considering the nature of the topic. Pauses could be slightly shorter, but overall, they allow things to sink in before jumping into the next section.
A disclaimer: I got this audiobook as a gift.

Good introduction to UX from a business perspective
Useful and practical examples. As someone in the industry, I would say it’s pretty accurate and useful. The narrator was good but at times had some strange pronunciations of certain words.

Very vague and repetitive.
I thought a lot of the information was repeated throughout the book. The content was pretty dry. It talks a lot about strategy, roles, and the how but not too much about the what. So it seems very high level. The examples used for measuring analytics were pretty much "abandoned shopping carts" but didn't go in to much detail about what tools or actions might be taken to improve check outs.
