Logan Sharpe’s life has been a disaster, but that’s finally going to change. As soon as Incessant Technologies heard about his situation, they knew he would be the perfect fit for their new game. Only catch? Once he goes in, there’s no coming back. Without hesitation, he signs the paper and enters the new VRMMORPG world of Exodus Online as a Star Child. As an extra incentive, Logan is given a chance to become what he’s never been before. Something unique, something powerful.

Abandoning his old name to go with one that suits his new body, Necro is ready to start over. To face his new reality, Necro must learn to survive in a dangerous, unforgiving world. Even with the help of two daring women at his side, how will he fare while exploring deadly dungeons, facing power-hungry leaders, and leveling his new body?

The only certainty is this: Logan is dead, but Necro has risen.

FOR THE HORDE!

Grear book, with less magic and more skull crushing! lots of litrpg get to wrapped up in magic and forget about strength and stamina so this is a great change.

surprisingly good

when I first started the book I was unsure about it because of the voice acting but as I continued to listen I really enjoyed the story and it turned out to be really good can't wait for the next one in the series.

Duel Narrators, Great Story, and Excellent Listen!

I love this story! I loved reading it and loved listening to it even more. Note: I still have some more to listen to but I don't think I'll stop listening until its done! I loved the duel narrators which really helped immersion. The narrators are doing a fantastic job with pulling me in and wanting me to keep listening. Their inflection and emotions are a great posative.

Story? What can I say about the story? Its amazing! When I first read it back in the day I couldn't put it down. Man, Lavelle can write and I can't wait for Book II to be on audible!

Interesting perspective

I enjoy books that represent different races’ perspectives. The game world is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the story. The narration was very well done. They did a great job portraying the characters.

Gritty Story That I Quite Enjoyed

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

This is the type of story that really grabs my attention. Fast paced and well written, it was a great start to what I imagine will be a fantastic series. The MC is clearly OP in certain ways, but this is counterbalanced with some material shortcomings. One thing I appreciated was that the writing emphasized this aspect of the story, and the narration further supported it. It’s gritty and raw, and filled with some fairly graphic action sequences, I’m looking forward to listening to the next installment.

Narration was superb, I always enjoy when it’s a team doing the storytelling. I was drawn into the story, and the minds of the characters. I’ll definitely look for other books this duo narrates. Just excellent.

tusk and blade my friends , tusk and blade.

this was really well done.

I enjoyed the story alot.
I like the premise of the story, the way that the litrpg comes to play, this is something that you can see being done in our future; if our technology gets that advanced. the world I'd well developed and characters are built up enough to get you interested. the story moves along a little fast. which can be good and bad depending on the listener. I didnt mind it. the only downside of the story is that it's not longer. cant wait for the next book.

the narration is done well by both Alan adelberg and annelise rennie. really loved the different voices for each character. cant wait to hear more by them.

MMORPG To the Next Level

Really enjoyed this book. Definitely filled with gore but what do you expect from Orc’s. Made me wonder if we would be battling Humans but they never showed up. Was good to see things from a different perspective.

Narration started a bit bland but quickly became part of the story.

Looks to be a really good series. I will be looking for the next book.

A very strong opening to a new series

* book received for free

I think this is one of my favorite 2020 audiobooks that you're not expecting. I have to warn you this book will trigger you for suicide, and graphic torture. Now that that warning is out of the way this is one of the best openers to a new series that I've had a chance to read.

The book is well described, highly detailed, and well thought out. The leveling system makes sense and the MC Characters class is unique and very interesting, I look forward to seeing how it will grow in the future.

Overall as long as you have a strong stomach this is a. Very solid opening to a new series and I highly recommend it.

Nice start to the series

Interesting story and good narration.

Guy in a terrible situation gets uploaded to a game. Gets some interesting perks if he plays the race and class recommended by the game company. What will he choose, and how will those decisions affect the rest of his life?

Alan and Anneliese do a great job with the narration!

If you enjoyed Lavelle's other books, you will probably enjoy this one too.

A good orc village RPG

Paralyzed guy is offered a chance to live in a game world. He decides to live as an orc fighter.

It's a somewhat simple story, but there are plenty of justified kills and level ups. The main character (Necro Redhammer) is likable. It wasn't until I started writing this review that I noticed the author also did Varnoth, another book I liked.

Refreshingly, the anti-hero of the story isn't saving the world, it's just one small area. By the end of this book, people living three towns away will never have heard of the events happening in Necro's town.

Highly recommended if you like litRPG.

Started good, but turned into torture and rape

Guy permanently uploads as to an experimental VR game as an ork. Most of the book was the standard "hi everybody I'm new here" story, but the last quarter went too dark for me having torture and rape.

Simply Honest Immersive LitRPG

I loved this audiobook.
It is honest and unabashed about being a story about an human mind inserted into a RPG game.

The story is well written and paced with some truly fun twists that kept me listening solidly.

The story has left me genuinely desperate for more. I need to know what will happen next.

The performance of characters is truly top level and is flawless throughout. The characters even sound like they have tusks (a small detail but honestly it made the difference).

I cannot really fault this book at all. The story is simple but beautifully executed alongside a stellar performance.

I received this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an honest an unbiased review which I have submitted above.

Dual narrators gimmick works really well

While this book managed to keep the plot fairly self-contained, it did a good job of setting up the mechanics of the world and the main cast who will be carrying the series in subsequent instalment. The initial premise for why the main character ends up in the game world was interesting enough, there are enough things hinted at about the company running the game to return to in later books too, so there are plenty of options for how the author can progress things.

While the main characters were somewhat basic archetypes, one thing that really helped them to come alive in this book was the performances of the two narrators, who between them ensured that the voices were all suitably distinctive and helped provide a greater degree of immersion in the story than if it had just been the one narrator. The format for the dual narration was for the male and female voices being assigned to the corresponding narrator, unlike other books where the split tends to be done per chapter depending on who was the main character, which wouldn't have worked as well in this one.

Overall, this was an entertaining start to this series that was nicely enhanced by the narration.

Too much for me

I received a review copy of this book. The story is interesting and the narration is excellent, however, several aspects of the book turned me off it:
-The main character is overtly misogynistic. All females are actively commented as attractive and immediately attracted to him, which is a shame as they are otherwise interesting characters.
-He is an unlikable bully, brutalising others with flimsy justification.
-The focus of the description on the brutality of the violence I actually found distracting to the story.

Whilst I can accept that an orc society is likely to be overly violent and even more sexualised, or that such brutality can be used as a pivot to the story, this felt almost as if the story was written to justify the brutality of the main character.

Vividly graphic adventure - good LitRPG entry!

Don't judge this book by its cover, or the first two chapters, as the LitRpg part is where the real meat and bones is at.
The adventure starts out just like a rpg game, and follows quite logical path in its adventures with plenty of blood and gore.
This book paints quite good picture in your mind about everything and is very easy to follow, character voices are interestingly done - the somewhat monotone cadence in the beginning is quickly forgotten with all the action and NPC interactions, the female voice has quite interesting timbre as well, making even level ups fun listen.
All in all, worthy listen with a vivid adventure, so looking forward to more books in this series!
