Publisher's Summary

Joining us at Audible Studios is English record producer, rapper and actor Adrian Thaws, better known by his stage name, Tricky. Tricky has written a no holds barred autobiography taking a look back at his life, titled Hell Is Round the Corner.

Tricky, born and raised in Bristol, had a difficult start in life, though he wouldn’t see it that way. His mother committed suicide when he was just four years old, and his father wasn’t part of the family. He was raised primarily by his grandmother, who allowed him to stay home from school, and by various uncles and other relatives.

Tricky was a part of the original lineup of the Wild Bunch, who became Massive Attack in 1987. Tricky performed with them until 1995, when he went solo with his first album, titled after his mother, Maxinquaye. He gained national and international fame, which he is famously uncomfortable with. His solo career has seen many albums released, as well as Tricky co-producing music throughout this time. On 26th June 2012, Tricky appeared onstage during Beyonce's headline slot on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury for the track 'Baby Boy'. Tricky has also acted in several films, such as The Fifth Element and Clean.

We spoke to Tricky about violence in Knowle-West growing up, the first music he made and what he hopes people will take away from the book.
