"Hard copy to be Bought "

I will be buying a hard copy of this book having listened to it. Rolf is engaging and relaxed in his narration. His passion is evident and in his voice you hear his belef in letting go.

His advice is easy and practical. He does not speak of anything that is not attainable by any person.

This is a book that will fill with notes and scribbles as U an about to begin my own journey.

Really good book with clear positive messaging. Lacks the direct action points of the authors he has inspired eg Tim Ferris but it's certainly enough to get your mind whirring.

"Not sure what the hype is about."

This book delivers advice and motivation for long term travelling that could be mistaken for common sense.

In my opinion this was simply a collection of essential tips for backpacking.

I'll sum up the book in a sentence:

If you want to travel for a long time you will need to have a prior financial windfall, lower your standard of living and be selfish enough to leave everything behind without hesitation.

$20,000 will see you off for a long time if you learn to couch surf, dumpster dive and travel overland. Go for it, but don't take this book.

Excellent audiobook, first one I have tried from audible.

The fact that the author is speaking makes it that much better - big fan of Tim Ferriss who pushed me into this, would highly recommend.

"1 highpoint, get a summary from someone"

The discussion of travelling vs tourism was good. The overuse of the word vagabonding was very annoying/repetitive after the 1st 15 uses. listening to the 'vagabonding voices ' was truly nauseous. pretentious travel writers /bloggers pedalling some vague philosophy and a lot of redundant travel tips. get a summary from someone who read it.

I expected to learn a lot about how to travel asks live fairly comfortably on a REALLY tight budget (Vagabond) and it turned out to be more of an empowering lecture that encouraged you to realize that Y.O.L.O. and that you should drop your life and take off, essentially... Ugh..

    "Great listen!"

Has definitely affected the way I think about consuming products (Will this hold me down in the future? Could I put this money toward a great meal in Japan someday? If I lose this object traveling, can I easily afford to replace it, or will it be a huge loss?).

Short enough that it's a relatively quick listen, and well worth it. Long enough to still provoke lots of thinking.

"my advice: pass on to the next book"

this was the most obsolete audio I've ever listened to. hearing Tim Ferris literally drooling over this book in his recommendation by calling it a game changer and a 'must read' made me want to know what it was all about, obviously I was disappointed. spare yourselves the money and go travel

"review of a well seasoned traveler."

I like to read books where I come out with something. I've been thinking about reading this book for a long time, since Tim Ferris was a fierce supporter. But I struggled to see what pointers I could take on this book.

Many of the "conclusions" are opinionated, posing a right and wrong way of traveling. Myself, I travel rather similar to how the author of the book has done, but I find that most of his advice is common sense, the rest is just his opinion, which sometimes coincides with mine, and sometimes not.

For someone that has never traveled outside of package tours, this book my pose a different way of traveling, something that many people can enjoy and learn from if they try. I was expecting to find something creative and different from what I saw, instead I just saw criticism of those that do package tours, drugs or alcohol.

I'm not saying the way he travels is not interesting, I'm saying that if this is what you like, this is what you will do. If someone rather go to a club med, well, there can be something in that too, different tastes make up for different traveling ways.

My self, I like to mix up a bit of everything.

What made the experience of listening to Vagabonding the most enjoyable?

Worth a listen. One area I would have liked a lot more depth on is finances. A lot of the excerpts he puts in from vagabonders all over the world seem to be freelance writers - what about the rest of us? That said it is still inspiration to just set off and follow your feet.

"Great for those who've never travelled..... if you have though...... :("

I was really hoping for great insights on vagabonding from this book as I'm researching into ways in which I begin a far longer journey than any I've done before. I was hoping on actual information on how to do this, instead I feel it's like a guidebook for those who have never left their own country, a beginners guide if you will..... there are an exhausting amount of quotes where I would have favoured actual information , dealing with logistics, consulates etc. It unfortunately glosses over too much. It really is worth reading if you've never had the chance to see another country or culture but for those slightly travel savvy it may disappoint. Sorry!!

If you've every thought about traveling or are young like me and want to explore the world before you commit to a full time job and possibly a family and home etc. Then you should give this book a read or listen. If it intrigues you then maybe you've found your next calling. like it says in the book, the world is like a book, you'll never really experience or know what it's about if you only live on the first page.

The audio version is 100%, couldn't stop listening to it. Will listen to it all again very soon. It has whetted my appetite for vagabonding - my mind is racing! Thank you for an outstanding audio book!
