surprisingly funny read
I was browsing through the ‘included’ list when I found this one. I found myself laughing out lid a lot. I would have enjoyed it more & given it 5 stars if not for some blasphemy which deeply offends me.

Funny all over again
I read this book years ago and listened to Bryson's own recorded version on cassette tape previously.
I enjoyed this Audible recording immensely, almost as if hearing it for the first time. The story and commentary, observations on American life and cultural idiocy, haven't dated at all.
Bryson's sharp eye and sharper wit shine through and it is all enhanced by excellent narration.

Easy ambling listen
Well performed, this ambling mix of history and Brysons experience on the Appellation Trail was nice company over the last few weeks cooking and washing dishes. No dramatic storyline but an informative and easy listen.

Interesting and easy to listen to.
Interesting and easy to get lost in. being fascinated with the AT but knowing I'll never get there, I enjoyed this book.

Great start and end but the middle only so so
The parts on the actually trail are amazing and really very inspiring. The middle part when he’s not actually walking the trail, while mildly interesting go on for way to long and have no relevance to the story.

Throwing the boots on.
I loved it. this is the second time I've listened to this story. Bill has a funny way of telling his own story. And good on Kaz for sticking it out and doing. Makes me wanna get my boots on and go for a walk myself.

Eyes of chipped granite
Amazing book. Meandering at times but always with purpose and entertaining. My favourite book and have read it at least 7 times.

Sad when it finished
My first Bryson, and it was a goodie. I was sad to have finished it - also sad about the rather ignoble end to the "walk in the woods". Still the wry humour and perceptive observations about the AT and some of the characters along/around it made this a thoroughly enjoyable armchair holiday.
