Publisher's Summary

Two brutal murders, a menacing band of poachers, and a fearsome creature on the loose in the mountains plunge Mattie Cobb and her K-9 partner Robo into a sinister vortex.

An explosion outside a community dance sends Mattie Cobb and Cole Walker reeling into the night, where they discover a burning van and beside it the body of outfitter Nate Fletcher. But the explosion didn’t kill Nate - it was two gunshots to the heart.

The investigation leads them to the home of rancher Doyle Redman, whose daughter is Nate’s widow, and the object of one of their suspect’s affection. But before they can make an arrest, they receive an emergency call from a man who’s been shot in the mountains. Mattie and Robo rush to the scene, only to be confronted by the ominous growl of a wild predator.

As new players emerge on the scene, Mattie begins to understand the true danger that’s enveloping Timber Creek. They journey into the cold, misty mountains to track the animal - but discover something even more deadly in Tracking Game, the fifth installment in Margaret Mizushima’s Timber Creek K-9 mysteries.

Don't waste your time!

This was the worst book I've read in quite some time. Chapter after chapter of Cole and Maddy trying to figure out their relationship and Maddy trying to deal with her childhood trauma. Of course, those were combined because how could Maddy possibly have a relationship because of the trauma? It went on too long and I lost interest in the whole story.

Quite enjoyable

Mattie Cobb and Robo and the Timber Creek sheriff's face a murder in their little town. As with the other Timber Creek books, Ms Mizushima laid layers upon layers of suspects and motives. Once again I enjoyed the beautiful descriptions of the Colorado landscape while following all the red herrings and possible suspects of the multiple murders in the quiet town. Along the way, Mattie struggled with her tangled emotions as she and Cole Walker moved closer together in their relationship. Ms Mizushima skillfully weaved plots and players together for a believable and satisfying conclusion. Listening to Nancy Wu narrate involved me fully in the story. I intend to keep with this series as long as Ms. Mizushima continues to write it.

Book is just okay.

Storyline dragged for a bit. Mattie/Maddie needs a new therapist to help her overcome her childhood issues b/c I cannot keep listening to her doubt herself & Cole. What a brain freeze. Matter fact I'll give her the number to my therapist. I was listening to this book on Mental Health Day and I remember thinking about this advice: Therapist are like underwear if one doesn't fit right change them. Girlfriend needs to change her's. Despite all that baggage, the book is worth the listen/read.

Surprises around every corner

I have enjoyed all of Margaret Mizushima’s books! I think this is one of her best books to date. Just when I thought I knew where this book was going, it took a different direction. Talk about surprises!! If you like mysteries that are well written, include the importance of family, have no bad language, and no graphic sex: this book is for you!! I really liked this book and I’ll probably listen to this book again, and again.

ANOTHER GREAT HIT!

I can't remember when I've enjoyed a series so much. I love all the characters and the K-9 is magnificent! The narrator is wonderful and I for one am so happy that it's been one narrator throughout the series. Nancy Wu is the voice one grows to expect. and without disappointment!

Good character development

I really enjoyed the fifth book. I feel that the author has really grown as a writer. It's just a fun mystery, but the characters are endearing, and it's been nice to see the author flesh them out more as the series has progressed. I really, really enjoyed the mystery in this installment.

Does Not Disappoint

I am definitely hooked on this series by Margaret Mizushima. As usual, Miszushima keeps the reader’s interest throughout the story. Some book series get redundant and boring after the first couple of books but not this one. I enjoy how the main characters have developed in each novel and I feel like I’m very familiar with the fictional town of Timber Creek and the surrounding area. I also appreciate how the author answers questions about the main character’s personal life in each book. I look forward to seeing how Mattie will continue to evolve in the next story.
