Publisher's Summary

What is the connection between a failed suicide attempt, a wrongful accusation of theft against a schoolgirl, and the romantic life of a famous tennis player? To the casual observer, apparently nothing. But when a houseparty gathers at Gull's Point, the seaside home of an elderly widow, earlier events come to a dramatic head. It's all part of a carefully paid plan for murder.

Another solid story

This is in general a great Agatha Christie story, with intrigue and plot twists which are laid out for you see in subtle ways. The only issue with the story is it feels like Christie needed to wrap it up to get it off to the publisher's quickly and just needed to finish it after the murder had been resolved, leaving you a bit of a taste in your mouth around the last few pages. But all in all a very good story.

Hugh Fraser + Agatha Christie = Fantastic

Hugh Fraser is a fantastic narrater and brings another of Agatha Christie's intruiging murder mysteries to life. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Another virtuoso performance by Fraser

I have never been inclined to actually read that many Agatha Christies, but I listen to one after the other just for Hugh Fraser's marvellous narration. This particular story gave him more scope than ever for a wide range of characters' voices. All done perfectly. I wish he would narrate more than just Agatha Christie - and a few travel books.

Escapism in wartime - a world of cosy England

It is surprising to realise that this novel was published in 1944, but it does not take place in our space-time continuum, but in a well-to-do England which has not experienced the 14-18 war, let alone the rise of Fascism and the outbreak of war in ‘39. It’s a fairly enjoyable fairy tale, with the usual crossed lovers and false trails. Well narrated by Hugh Fraser, as we have learned to expect.

Christie.Need.I say more.

Read every single Christie novel back in the 70's. The quality of her writing and well laid out plots made me read many of her books non stop from start to finish. No real need to suggest you read this. If you like this genre then you will of course do just that. Hugh Fraser, non better.
