Ugh. (Warning!! Spoiler alert!)

What did you like best about Tough Justice Series Box Set: Parts 1-8? What did you like least?

Riddles with cliched sayings. Main character spends 90% of the series whining, doubting herself and then telling herself "she can do it!" But yet she tries to act like she has a rep as a bad a$$?! Lame. (Spoiler) Why was her job more important than her child? Why couldn't she just go into witness protection with her child?

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Narrator reads every line with a subtle drama. I think there was too much emotion infused into just basic sentences.

Do you think Tough Justice Series Box Set: Parts 1-8 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

no

Mixed review

The story was gripping, but I had a tough time believing that an FBI agent could make so many mistakes. Sex scenes were over done.

Overall it was a good value, lots of story for the money,

A long listen

I purchased the box set of 1-8 in the Tough Justice Series last week.

And so began my walk between good and evil.

I enjoyed the series, however at the end I was beginning to think this woman was incapable of being indestructible and unstoppable.
I will look forward to the next book, but it will be awhile before I will dedicate so much time to a book.

Former fanfic?

Did this start as a piece of fan fiction? I asked myself that over and over as it played on endlessly. I’d put money on Criminal Minds. It’s so-so for a mindless listen if you’re really good at suspending disbelief. Books 2 and 7 are by far the weakest writing - they were painful to hear. I’m a fan of Therese Plummer’s audio performances and she did great considering what she had to work with.

Investigate or have sex

If you don't pay attention to the publisher at the start, you will soon realize that this is a Harlequin novel. When the FBI agents aren't investigating the crimes and trying to get the bad guy, they're either having sex or fantasizing about it. We get it, they are adults but Lara Gant seems to be a little too focused on getting physical with the bad guy or her new partner. If you got rid of the gratuitous love making, this 8 book series could be condensed to 4.

Once you get past the late nite Cinemax plots, it is a good crime series. Of course there is a mole, a bad guy and a twin, plus a daughter that gets used as bait. It is longer than needed (even without the explicit relationship descriptions), but getting through it is a rewarding way to spend some free time.

Worth the money

It got my attention and kept it. There were several plot twists and turns. Sometimes it was predictable but all in all it was pretty good.
