Publisher's Summary

Most of us have trouble finding time to pray. There's church and school and neighborhood and job and friends and recreation. And then the crises hit! Time for prayer seems an impossible luxury.

As a pastor, Bill Hybels knows hundreds of people with schedules like this. Yet in his own life he has made the hard discovery that prayer doesn't happen on the run. He decided he was too busy not to pray. Hybels's accessible introduction to prayer has already helped over 400,000 readers develop a rich and regular prayer life in the midst of life's business. Now, in this revised and expanded 10th anniversary edition, he includes new insights from his years of ministry and his own spiritual journey. His fun and practical book offers the resources we need for growing, ongoing experiences in prayer.

MUST READ

All that I had been struggling with in regards to my prayer life was mentioned at one time or another in this book, but the difference was that I was now getting solutions and a how to guide that I understood. Thank you for this.

Very practical advice and insight on prayer

I've been praying my whole life but always felt I just wasn't communing with God like I should. Bill Hybels does an excellent job breaking down many aspects of prayer like: Why we don't pray, How God is willing and able to hear and answer prayers, habits and how you can build them, how to pray more effectively, how to get answers to prayer... to name a few. Apparently learning for years that I should pray, repent, seek guidance... wasn't enough. I needed a user manual with detailed steps and I think I finally found one.

Perfect Title for Today's Lifestyle

I love this book, and I am sure that I will listen to it again. There wasn't a moment that I struggled to finish it, but like the book stresses that we need to make quiet time for God, I did just that when I chose to listen to it.. the most memorable part for me is chapter 14 (leadings).
Additionally, the author and narrator did justice to the book, pitch perfect, tone perfect, I felt like we were sitting and having a conversation.
Thanks.

Helped me to pray

This book helped me become more confident and comfortable with prayer. Hybels gives different methods to try for praying and explains how and why we need to slow down and listen to God. The narrator fits the message great.

Excellent - a good challenge and reminder

Felt quite challenged by a lot of this; principally that busyness is the archenemy of healthy spirituality and prayerfulness. I need to slow down, make space - for God and others. Many guys (myself included) get too busy and even find our significance in the wrong busyness rather than in the presence of God and in our relationship with God. Great book, well read. Highly recommended.

Short, honest and practical teaching

Very honest and practical teaching. Short enough to listen to during a busy season in life. Inspired to change my schedule to create the space for quieter reflection and listening to The Lord with some tools on how to make it a more fruitful, quality experience

A good argument for prayer

A thoughtful and well argued book. Backed by Biblical comment throughout. With Bill Hybels, you feel he is showing you as much about his failings as his experience and this makes it real for me.
