About this listen

Jack Ryan, Jr. is on a path that leads to international destruction.

The quiet of a Texas night is shattered by the sounds of screeching brakes, crumpling metal and, most shockingly, rapid gunfire. The auto accident Jack Ryan, Jr. thought he witnessed turned out to be a professional hit. Jack may be too late to save the victim, but he'll be damned if he's going to let the hitters escape justice.

He's got just one lead - a meeting the victim was going to. When Jack shows up instead, he's drawn into the seedy underbelly of a small Texas town and the cold case of a college student who vanished from its streets.

Jack is left with nothing but questions. Who wants it to look like the victim was drunk? Why does someone want an innocent witness killed? And most of all, what's a team of South African hitmen doing in the Lone Star State?

His quest for answers will take Jack from a quiet Texas road to the middle of an international conspiracy - and may just cost him his life.

I really like the characters which makes me forgive the irritations. There are disconnected sub plots and the action is padded out with cheesy slapstick joking around which feels dated. Like I said, I’ve read previous Tom Clancy books with the same characters which caused me to forgive the irritations. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend this book.

Good but too padded

The 4th and final Clancy novel from Don Bentley has everything. mercs for hire, supersonic and hypersonic aircraft, and of course, tripple nickel sniper and spotter Chad and Jad teaming up with Lizzane to save Jack Jr ... again. This is an awesome read and moves the Jack Jr story on. 5 stars.

Great Jack Jr Story.

The lack of variation of stating what a character spoke. its always "said" even in questions, exclamations; it's always said....

Storyline interesting, but what's happened to Chilly?

The flip flop alternating authors isn't serving the ryanverse well. The authors either need to plan together more of bin the flip flop. The inconsistent/stop start nature isn't serving the ryanverse arc well.

In particular for Don, its like your trying to write Tom Clancy style and throw references to other books and ot irks the reader, Tom, Grant and Mark Grreaney never did this, it's like your trying to hard. I would say chill out, Dial it back, let your story stand on its own legs, and get an editor that will enforce the above, but I don't have to as this is your last book,

Thanks for trying but unlike othe ryanverse authors, I want be reading your other books.

only read as its an extension of the ryanverse, otherwise I would have given it a miss

Tom Clancy’s Weapons Grade is a high-octane thriller that dives deep into the shadowy world of illegal arms trafficking, rogue states, and the terrifying potential of cutting-edge weaponry falling into the wrong hands. This installment captures the essence of Clancy’s signature style—combining intricate plotting, military authenticity, and relentless tension.

Plot Overview
The story revolves around a covert team tasked with investigating and dismantling a secret operation that aims to develop and distribute advanced weaponry capable of destabilizing global power structures. From the deserts of the Middle East to the laboratories of Eastern Europe, the narrative takes readers on a journey filled with espionage, betrayal, and explosive confrontations.

Strengths:
Thrilling Action: The action scenes are cinematic, with firefights, stealth missions, and high-stakes chases keeping the pace brisk and engaging.

Intricate Plot: The narrative weaves together multiple threads—political intrigue, technological innovation, and moral dilemmas—creating a rich and compelling story.

Attention to Detail: The depiction of advanced weaponry and military tactics is meticulously researched, lending credibility to the high-tech scenarios.

Timely Themes: The story explores contemporary issues like the black market for military tech and the ethics of weapon development, adding depth and relevance.

Weaknesses:
Character Development: While the plot is strong, some characters feel underdeveloped, serving more as vehicles for the story rather than fully realized individuals.

Predictability: Certain twists and outcomes may feel familiar to seasoned readers of the genre, though the execution remains engaging.

Overall Impression:
Weapons Grade delivers exactly what fans of Tom Clancy have come to expect: a tense, action-packed narrative grounded in realism and global stakes. While it doesn’t break new ground, it successfully upholds the franchise’s legacy of intelligent and thrilling storytelling.

I start with bad. There are too many repetitive segments. It started to feel like the writer needed to fill quote for word count. This affects how the book flows and disrupts the rhythm. easily to compare to a TV series, where they recap what happened before at the start of the episode.
in saying that, there is no reason to avoid the book it's just, it's not perfect. it's just pretty good.

Good story, too many repetitive sections
