About this listen

Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the best-selling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.

Geralt the Witcher has fought monsters and demons across the land, but even he may not be prepared for what is happening to his world. The kings and armies are manoeuvring for position, each fearing invasion from across the river, each fearing their neighbours more. Intrigue, dissent and rebellion are on all sides.

The Elves and other non-humans are still suffering under decades of repression, and growing numbers join the commando units hidden deep in the forest, striking at will and then dissolving into the trees. The Magicians are fighting amongst themselves, some in the pay of the kings, some sympathetic to the elves.

And against this backdrop of fear and contempt Geralt and his lover Yennefer must protect Ciri, orphaned heir and sought by all sides. For the prophecy rests on her, and whether she lives or dies she has the power to save the world - or perhaps end it.

the book is great but the timeline can be a bit confusing. I recommend looking up the reading order before you begin the series as I thought this was book 3 chronologically but turned out not to be the case.

overall the story and world building is brilliant.

Another brilliantly Peter
Kenny-voiced novel! He always brings Andrzej Sapkowski ‘s “Withcher” stories to life!

This one even includes “Dandillion” (aka Dandelion) singing the most hauntingly beautiful song. “…(with) Elvish lyrics amongst the Common Tongue”. It’s a lovely song, sung perfectly by Peter Kenny, just as you’d imagine it should be; in a minor Key!

Another great story in the Witcher universe. Fast paced and another fantastic performance by Peter Kenny the narrator.
These books are politically driven with a lot of characters and different factions still the action is great and gory too.
I have to keep focused when listening because the story does jump ahead quickly at times.
Highly recommended and a very enjoyable listen.

Another great story from the Witcher universe.

great voice acting and good pacing. the witcher universe is a great mid point between lotr/warhammer magic/war and game of thrones political story telling

Peter Kenny's knowledge of bardic melodies is particularly impressive. Incredible series (perhaps my new favourite fantasy series), and really high quality voice acting to boot.

Amazing!

I really enjoyed Time of Contempt more than some of the other books in the series. It had a more cohesive story line and alot more adventure than the previous story which seemed very dry and overly political. Wonderfully read as always by the same narrator however he continually changes the pronunciation of Dandelion throughout the book series - not annoying though.

One of the best in The Witcher series

Geralt and Yennefer must protect Ciri, the orphaned heir who is sought by all sides. For the child of prophecy has the power to change the world - if she lives to use it. Complex, deep, ad well-written. Might get a bit confused so best to start with the short stories (Wish and Sword books then elves then this one). I love these books.

Good writing

Lots of fun. Brutal ending. Great characters. Rich world. It remains lite in tone however it gets very dark towards the end.

Great Characters. Rich World

I really enjoyed following Ciri, Geralt, Yennifer and the others in this tale. Plenty of action, not too many character names to remember.

Loved It
