Publisher's Summary

Suzy is a control freak and has her life mapped out-work hard, find a man with a stable job, and live happily ever after. She's content with the status quo, but her plan comes to a screeching halt when he enters her life and turns it upside down. City gave up on love when his heart was crushed in college, preferring to be the typical bachelor. He spends his nights hopping from one bed to another and his days working at his family tattoo shop, Inked. A chance encounter on a dark road makes him question what he had sworn off forever - a relationship.

A night of passion and lust causes them to question everything. Is City the knight in shining armor to the damsel in distress? Can their relationship survive when a fantasy falls apart and a secret comes out that changes everything?

Contains mature themes.

Excited about the rest of the series

This is a new author for me. One of many things that I love about the packages offered through Audible. Free range of books in a certain genre, leaves the door wide open for me to try hundreds of authors unknown to me, with no risk of losing $.

I liked this story and the style of this author. Things that were just “okay” for me in this book...
1. The main female lead, was a little immature and whiny about things in the first part of the book, but about a third of the way through, that went away and she became much more enjoyable for me.
2. Although I’ve really liked both narrators in many other books, they were just so-so for me in this book, voice tones maybe just didn’t work for me. Not something that I can put my finger on and not horrible by any means. I still really enjoyed the book.

I am SUPER excited to hear the rest of the series and am ECSTATIC that the author used different narration combinations for each book. In a series, there will always be some similarities, especially when you are dealing with a large family as the focus. However most authors have their favorite narrators and the same voices for me in every book can make a series less enjoyable. I am so excited that is not the case with this series and have already downloaded the next books! YaY!

Disappointing narration

Narration made the book difficult
To listen to. I just couldn’t get past the narration to enjoy.

could not finish

for the age of the characters the story read very new adult, immature. I can tell you right now that no 30ish biker tattoo artist would be giddy about saying, so you'll be my girlfriend? uhm, no. had to stop reading right there. her whole we are so different argument was baseless as he in no way shape or form acted like a biker. he was a perfect gentleman.

Story was lacking, narration was horrible

I'll start my critic with the narration. The male narrator kept jumping from a horrible Chicago accent to a horrible cross between an Italian and Spanish accent. The female narrator was way too breathy.
The story itself was basically nine or ten sex scenes with an extremely weak plot and dialogue in between. There were so many inconsistencies in the story line that it was almost laughable. These errors should have been caught before the recording. I'm definitely returning this one and would not recommend it to anyone.

This one did not wow me in any way!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I have mixed feeling about recommending this book to anyone. I didn't think this story was well thought out. There were parts of the story that were disconnected and did not go with the characters development. I found Suzy to be whinny and to insecure and I didn’t feel that she grew out of that by the end of the book. I also never came to care for her character and ended up losing a bit of respect for her in the end.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the family aspect and City was a great alpha male character, but I couldn't get into his relationship with Suzy.

How could the performance have been better?

I didn't like the female reader in this one. Her voice made Suzy's already lackluster dialog worse because it seemed forced. There was also a huge difference in the way the readers interpreted the accents of the main characters. It was hard to get into.

Was Throttle Me worth the listening time?

Yes I would say it was worth listening to but it is not something I would listen to more than once. I tend to like to listen to books in my library over and over and this will not be one in my rotation.

Any additional comments?

I am aware this is part of a series and I hope the others are better or that they at least have a better listening experience.

The rescue

This was a story of a great rescue. Joseph saves Suzie from a disabled vehicle, a drunk, a date gone wrong and even herself. She learns that things don't have to go as planned and to live for life. Very passionate characters well done.⚘⚘⚘

Loved it

I really loved this novel my only complaint is that the male narrator sometimes forgot the accent he was doing and it would throw me but the story was so good that it made up for it

Great Read and an even hotter listen!

I loved the book, so decided to listen to the audio version and it didn't disappoint.

It took me a while to get used to Lucy Malone being the voice of Suzy as it's not how I imagined her sounding but Nelson Hobbs is exactly how I thought City would sound.

A hot read but an even hotter listen.

Hot

First book in the Men of Inked series. Hot alpha male City comes to the rescue of uptight goody too shoes Suzy. Things get hot and heavy pretty quickly. If would seem that City, hot tattooed biker, who normally doesn't see a girl twice, is all in with Suzy. Suzy on the other hand is looking to settle down with a suited businessman. No bad boy for her. Their sexual chemistry cannot be denied. Can they work on a relationship? Enjoyable read, Definitely looking into the next book in the series.
