just gets better as you go

In General: TA White is an exceptional writer. I have to admit, it took me a while to give her books a go, but I am happy I did. The books have just the right amount of suspense, intrigue, and action that the plot moves along at a great pace and never feels like it's taking too long to progress.

To say I am a fan is an understatement! Nothing beats a strong and smart lead paired with a wonderful mix of dynamic and colorful secondary characters. To top it off, Natasha Soudek brings the characters to life. The differing voice fluctuations and tone given to the many inhabitants of the world enriches the listening experience.

The Firebird series is 1 of 3 available from this author, but I am hoping all her books will become available in the future.

About book 3: this is by far my favorite of the series. 1) Kira and Graden finally connect and the proof of their trust in one another manifests in a way that even Kira can't deny it inspite of her paranoia of everyone, 2) the epic telling of the qualifying wave runner race gives me all the adrenaline feels from a readers' perspective, and 3) in the first book, Kira's interaction is very stunted; only Jin is privy to her truest self. in the 2nd, Graden and Raider, slowly inch their way in to Kira's inner orbit and even though Kira is slowly opening up to the Tuann, she's still so guarded. In the third book, you finally get to see just how multi-faceted Kira is as she interacts with friend, family, and foes.

I can't wait for book 4 now that the Tsavitee have struck out against the primary races and have made their presence known.

Very satisfying

The 2nd book left me feeling annoyed at the characters and romantic tropes. The action sequences felt gratuitous and too long in the last one. This felt more balanced. The action moved the plot along. Kira is no longer a child with an creepy old man after her. The work building and back stories also starting to pay off. I’m looking forward to the next one.

I hate this narrator

This narrator is awful, the intonation doesn’t fit the characters or the situations, and the male voices are very hard to tell apart. This narrator also has a slight lisp, making some consonants difficult to make out, a very poor choice for the hard of hearing. Love TA White, but please choose someone else for the next book.

A hole on my heart where this story ends.....

I need more! This is one of the best stories of loneliness, mystery, self finding, and love of family that I have read in a long time. It's rare to see such great character and plot development with a totally new world.. The world the author created was so detailed and complete leaving no questions of the mood and depth of the characters, including the animals mentioned. Although a brief verbal dictionary was included at the end of one story, it wasn't needed. The emotions portrayed when characters used made up words made their meanings completely apparent.

I cannot wait for more......

too much tangent.

I love the author and I love this series but I was a little annoyed most of the book. I felt like the author over explain everything and didn't trust the reader to use their imagination. I felt like the detail would be in the middle of a action and I would be side track, then was confuse of what was happening. But I love where this story is headed

I'm in love

I'm in love with these characters, this world and all of the interactions between each. I rarely relisten to a series, but I'm about to restart Firebird Chronicles. Natasha Soudek is the perfect narrator for this series. I am looking forward to more of these books both on paper and in audio!

I really really enjoy this series

The writing could use a bit more editing due to some inconsistencies in the storyline and incorrect use of some words -BUT- darn if I’ll let it stop me from enjoying an interesting story with characters I’m invested in.
Recommend this series and her Broken Lands series.

Soudek might not be the best choice for narrator but she grows on you. I could appreciate it if she would look up the correct pronunciation of some words that she has never used before.

Love this series! Someone mentioned this author as one to check out, and I'm so glad I did! I've now finished all three in this series and can't wait for more. It's now on my Must Have list.

absolutely bloated with paranoid stubborn heroes.

Writing and plot wise this is the best of the series so far. It took care of some of the things that i felt were plot holes in the last couple of books and didn't add any new ones in doing so, which is in my experience not usually the case. the book is pretty good over all. Lots of action mixed nicely with character development and plot progression. I enjoy all the characters and am glad that while a lot of bad and horrible crap happens the book is balanced enough with sweet and hilarious moments that it never comes close to edge lord territory. The only thing i really found disappointing was that it ended and now i have to wait however long till the next book comes out.
It's not really a nitpick but i will say that most of the characters being really paranoid and stubborn to the point that they will let everything go to hell before they will reveal even the slightest bit of information, can get pretty frustrating at times. The fact that a lot of the characters have some variant of a hero complex and will justify all of their mistrust on the name of the greater good does not help much, especially when it is so obvious that EVERYONE wants to help for the greater good. They are all so busy making sure that their allies jump through one hoop after another to prove that they can REALLY be trusted, that they don't seem to see that if they just work together they would solve like 90% of their problems. It is getting better with each book, but it also very much a two steps forward one step back kind of process.
I am looking forward to more books in this series.
