Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audio edition of Thrawn: Treason by Timothy Zahn.

Grand Admiral Thrawn faces the ultimate test of his loyalty to the Empire in this epic Star Wars novel from best-selling author Timothy Zahn.

'If I were to serve the Empire, you would command my allegiance.'

Such was the promise Grand Admiral Thrawn made to Emperor Palpatine at their first meeting. Since then, Thrawn has been one of the Empire’s most effective instruments, pursuing its enemies to the very edges of the known galaxy. But as keen a weapon as Thrawn has become, the Emperor dreams of something far more destructive.

Now, as Thrawn’s TIE defender program is halted in favour of Director Krennic’s secret Death Star project, he realises that the balance of power in the Empire is measured by more than just military acumen or tactical efficiency. Even the greatest intellect can hardly compete with the power to annihilate entire planets.

As Thrawn works to secure his place in the Imperial hierarchy, his former protégé Eli Vanto returns with a dire warning about Thrawn’s homeworld. Thrawn’s mastery of strategy must guide him through an impossible choice: duty to the Chiss Ascendancy, or fealty to the Empire he has sworn to serve. Even if the right choice means committing treason.

excellent book, it's actually long but feels short

another awesome thrawn book with Marc Thompson's voice acting on point as usual, it has made it to a point where I can't imagine thrawn or Eli without his voices attached.
On a down note though they need to give zahn more freedom with his stories and timeline so he can really put his characters into the larger scale stories in which they belong

Star Wars swag!

Enjoyable enough conclusion to the new trilogy limited by some of the new cannon. I still prefer the original Thrawn trilogy

Good, not great like previous 2.

Weakest of the new trilogy but should lead to more books on Thrawn. Greatest star wars character ever.

Great storyline and action!

Zahn is somehow managing to keep his greatest character creation alive in the jumbled mess of Disney's incarnation of the franchise! Great for all those who love the classic Thrawn novels and for the fans of Rogue One too! Only thing that annoyed me was the unbelievably confrontational character of Ronan; it was just annoying - and the panto dame voice acting for him didn't help! Still, one small thing to improve. Looking forward to the next development in the story of the Grisks!

Moan moan moan moan

Had to stop because of constant irrational aggressive monologuing from the assistant director character. So boring and exhausting to listen to constant illogical moaning, with every word spoken by this character spoken through gritted teeth. Tedious lazy writing, and poor over the top narration

A great Thrawn story

I wasn't to keen on Thrawn Alliances. This book, however, gets five stars across the board for the usual high standard of acting from Marc Thompson and also for its plot. There is no flitting between timelines (Which I hated in the previous book), with the focus being on the strategic and political games the empire weaves within its ranks. Thrawn, as usual, proves he is more than adept and navigating the minefield of espionage and the threats to both him and the empire are tangible and exciting. It's a great Thrawn story.

Best of the Thrawn books so far

I had read the 2 previous Thrawn books in physical format but decided to listen to this one and it made the book so much more enjoyable, the narration is first class and the story comes to life and carries you along, I hope for more books about Thrawn and the Chiss and maybe even film or tv versions (not animated)

Just WOW

Yet again another masterful book written by the talented Timothy Zahn creating such a perfect mix of understanding and puzzlement which is delivered perfectly by Marc Thompson with his masterful rendition of Thrawn making the whole story feel so much more. 10/10 would reccomend
