Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audio edition of Thrawn: Treason by Timothy Zahn.

Grand Admiral Thrawn faces the ultimate test of his loyalty to the Empire in this epic Star Wars novel from best-selling author Timothy Zahn.

'If I were to serve the Empire, you would command my allegiance.'

Such was the promise Grand Admiral Thrawn made to Emperor Palpatine at their first meeting. Since then, Thrawn has been one of the Empire’s most effective instruments, pursuing its enemies to the very edges of the known galaxy. But as keen a weapon as Thrawn has become, the Emperor dreams of something far more destructive.

Now, as Thrawn’s TIE defender program is halted in favour of Director Krennic’s secret Death Star project, he realises that the balance of power in the Empire is measured by more than just military acumen or tactical efficiency. Even the greatest intellect can hardly compete with the power to annihilate entire planets.

As Thrawn works to secure his place in the Imperial hierarchy, his former protégé Eli Vanto returns with a dire warning about Thrawn’s homeworld. Thrawn’s mastery of strategy must guide him through an impossible choice: duty to the Chiss Ascendancy, or fealty to the Empire he has sworn to serve. Even if the right choice means committing treason.

Another entertaining book about Thrawn

The story is very good on its own but just as Alliances, it is not up to the stratospheric standards reached by the first Thrawn book. I hope very much that Timothy Zahn will reintroduce Thrawn's Journal in the next book. A new opponent, at the level of Night Swan, would be far preferable than the barely visible Grisks. The narrator has been outstanding in all three books but it is inexplicable how so high level production with so many female characters cannot secure at least one female narrator to partner Marc Thompson.

Good, not great like previous 2.

Weakest of the new trilogy but should lead to more books on Thrawn. Greatest star wars character ever.

In a neat bow

Completed the Thrawn trilogy, but not as good as the original Zahn trilogy. Didn't have the same pace as previous books within the original or earlier two

another good edition

if you've listened to the other two, it's a must!
Thrawn is a great character and I really do love Timothys narration! the story itself is a tad hard to follow at parts but a brilliant follow up and leaves alot possible story arks for the future on the cards! good listen especially if you're a fan of thrawn!

What the sequel trilogy should have been.

Zahn has expertly concluded his trilogy with a believable threat looming over the Galaxy, and I can't help but feel like this would have been a much better continuation of the Skywalker Saga, than the embarassing First Order Stormtrooper pretenders that JJ Abrams came up with.

Fantastic

Marc Thompson delivers a great performance, as always aided by the shuttle nuance of Timothy Zahns weighting ability this book is a must listen for any SW fan but I definitely recommend listening to the other two from the series first

Another good listen

A good listen overall, the performance and production are great. The story is good, not the best. The pacing seems a bit off with a long build up and a rushed ending. Good links to other canon resources (such as the rebels tv series and Rouge one) but nothing that would detract from the story if you haven't seen them, more of a Easter egg/nod.
