As a parent of a child with dyslexia, I found This is Dyslexia to be an incredibly insightful and empowering read. The book not only provides practical, up-to-date information and useful resources for further learning, but it also reframes dyslexia in a powerful way—highlighting dyslexic thinking as one of the most sought-after skills in today’s job market. This perspective is both refreshing and encouraging. I believe this book should be essential reading for parents, educators, and employers alike. Highly recommended.

Thank you for explaining in detail dyslexia, but also the ways in which we can help anyone with dyslexia and let them shine. I’m so motivated to help others understand how to better cater and help people “made by dyslexia” shine and succeed.

I went into This Is Dyslexia by Kate Griggs with high hopes, expecting a well-structured and insightful resource that could shed light on the dyslexic experience. Unfortunately, I found the structure of the book deeply disappointing.

Rather than providing a cohesive narrative or standalone content, the book frequently refers readers to external videos and resources. For someone who bought the book—especially in audiobook form—to listen to and absorb information directly, this approach felt frustrating and counterintuitive. If I wanted to watch videos or follow social media for insights, I could have done so without purchasing the book.

What’s worse is that the referrals disrupt the flow, making it hard to immerse myself in the content. It would have been far better if the key points from those external references were rewritten or summarized directly in the book. This would have made the material far more accessible and complete.

I was hoping for a resource that would help me feel seen and empowered as a dyslexic individual, but instead, I feel like I wasted my time and money. Ironically, I could have just asked ChatGPT or followed Kate Griggs' socials for the same information.

In conclusion, while Kate Griggs undoubtedly has valuable insights to share, the execution of this book leaves much to be desired. If you're looking for a truly immersive and empowering read on dyslexia, this might not be the book for you.
