About this listen

Sex, drugs, rock and roll, absinthe, splatter, death, internet dating, and much more. The story of an innocent Sydney boy's journey from slum to splendor along the explosive rock and roll highways of the '70s, through heartbreak and happiness.

Having made and lost fortunes, having had four wives and adventures all around the world, Julius Grafton is a writer, former rock and roll roadie, and entrepreneur doing business in the music, events, and media industries.

This fast-moving story gathers some unbelievable chapters in a colorful life lived hard. You meet plenty of interesting people: Bruce Jackson, Eric Robinson, Garry Glitter, Roger Davies, A. J. Maddah, and Tom Misner all get a chapter.

I really enjoyed listening to this. I feel a bit bad about that since one shouldn’t find entertainment in reading of the struggles of others but perhaps the fact that he overcame a difficult childhood makes that acceptable.

I know the 50’s & 60’s were difficult economic times but why did parents have to be so unkind to children back then?

If you grew up in Australia in the 70’s & 80’s as I did, I’m sure you could relate to many of the stories here. If you also work in the live audio industry it’s extra relatable.

Overall it’s very well written, narrated & quite witty.

Enjoyable Read
