About this listen

Matilda Boseley's adult ADHD diagnosis was a massive, earth-shattering event. She was given a prescription but had no idea what ADHD meant for her identity, her relationships or her future.

Twelve months of confusion later, journalist Matilda embarked on an epic voyage to figure out what's really happening in the stormy seas of the ADHD brain and write the guide she wished she'd had.

The Year I Met My Brain is the ultimate travel companion for navigating and enjoying life as an ADHD adult, covering:

- what adult ADHD symptoms look like

- why so many ADHDers (especially females) are missed as kids

- how the disorder impacts our relationships, careers and self-esteem

- why we unfairly treat ourselves like failures - and how to find self-forgiveness and healing

- practical tips for social and organisational wins

- and, most importantly, how to make our lives work to fit our brains rather than trying to force our brains to fit our lives.

Uplifting, empowering, deeply researched and sparkling with 'a-ha' moments, The Year I Met My Brain is an invaluable resource for ADHDers and those who love them.

Matilda tells her own story of personal discovery interwoven with a story of humanity’s understanding of the ADHD brain.
Matilda has a brilliant mind, and I’m grateful that she has had the perseverance to share that with us all.

Matilda writes and narrates an easy book to follow along. I've been on a wait-list for 7 months now to see a Psychiatrist for a diagnosis. I also waited another 2 years before that to get help. After seeing the tik tok craze I identified with many of the traits but felt like I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon. Even though I'm not officially diagnosed yet, I do feel like everything starts to make sense. Thanks Matilda for pushing through to create this book!

Wow Matilda!
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou
This was so good for my understanding of myself.
I was recently diagnosed at 39 years old and I am navigating my way through my first year. Your research, data collection and explaining those findings in a simple way made absorbing the content that much easier, especially for my distracted brain. Thankyou!

This is a must read for anyone living with ADHD or with loved ones with ADHD. My partner and I listened together and all of the “aha” moments from insights into why and how my brain works the way it does made it such a valuable read, and a validating experience. Matilda Boseley has levelled the information perfectly for an audience of people coming from such diverse backgrounds only tied together by one uniting factor and made this material accessible and relatable for everyone.

I loved listening to this book. I’m immensely grateful that Matilda put so much effort into writing it. I have menopausal symptoms that are so much like ADHD- this is such a helpful resource! Highly recommended.

I’ve never listened to an audiobook that I’ve needed to regularly stop because I felt the words so deeply in my soul. For the first time since being recently diagnosed (as a seemingly ‘functional’ 31 year old white woman), this book has made me feel so validated, real and proud to be apart of such an amazing community. Thank you so much for your candour, realness and hilarity in discussing your experiences and the neuroscience into ADHD.

So incredibly relevant, gut wrenching and beautiful in equal measures
