Publisher's Summary

In the depths of the Maine woods, the wreckage of an aeroplane is discovered. There are no bodies, and no such plane has ever been reported missing, but men both good and evil have been seeking it for a long, long time. What the wreckage conceals is more important than money: it is power. Hidden in the plane is a list of names, a record of those who have struck a deal with the Devil. Now a battle is about to commence between those who want the list to remain secret and those who believe that it represents a crucial weapon in the struggle against the forces of darkness.

The race to secure the prize draws in private detective Charlie Parker, a man who knows more than most about the nature of the terrible evil that seeks to impose itself on the world, and who fears that his own name may be on the list. It lures others too: a beautiful, scarred woman with a taste for killing; a silent child who remembers his own death; and the serial killer known as the Collector, who sees in the list new lambs for his slaughter. But as the rival forces descend upon this northern state, the woods prepare to meet them, for the forest depths hide other secrets. Someone has survived the crash.

Something has survived the crash. And it is waiting.

lost the plot.....

I have enjoyed earlier books in this series more. It was a bit disjointed, and, for me, the overall theme of the story was lost. There seemed to be a lot of murder and mayhem over not much at all. If you asked me to tell you succinctly what the book was about, I would find it difficult to answer, beyond saying it was a 'supernatural thriller.'

Another great one from the master storyteller

An old enemy is back and even more dangerous than before, more layers are revealed as Charlie Parker goes in search of a missing plane somewhere buried deep in the Great North Woods in Maine.

Confusing if you've not read the rest

There were a lot of references back to the previous books in the series, and my memory is so rubbish I couldn't remember them all; so this may not interest newcomers to the series until they read them all.

Parker is asked to help look for a downed plane, but lots of folk are after it for various reasons. Who will get there first?

Master of suspense

I love all of John Connellys books with Charlie and Angel and Louie, you can imagine doing the same things when the bad guys come creeping out of the woodwork. I sometimes wish they were not so good, It's like they are family and you just hate it when things don't go quite right for them, I just wish I such goods friends who are always there for you when you need them. I hope you keep going with them for a long time to come John. Can't wait for the next new one

Wrath of Angels one of Connolly's better offering

Those familiar with Connolly's work will know that the Writer has a neat trick of incorporating kernels of story from his Short works into the main body of his Novels: The Collector; God of Wasps; to name but two. In "Wrath of Angels" Loyal Listeners will be reunited with Characters and Themes alike but sadly someone is lost along the way...Those following the Charley Parker Story thus far will be saddened by the loss of the Character but by no means will be disappointed by the Book. With the versatile tones of Harding thrown-in that about seals the deal.

Another great read

If you could sum up The Wrath of Angels in three words, what would they be?

Have to read

What did you like best about this story?

Another classic in the Charlie Parker saga, characters so interesting and twists in the story, keep you pinned to the end.
Narration by Jeff Harding is the best.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Try to make these last more than one sitting, don't like to finish too soon.

Wonderful, rich story. One of my favourite authors

I loved this book as I have done all the Charlie Parker books. The narrator as always brought all the characters to life and is so god I have used him as a leap board to reading other authors with the same narrator

I love Charlie Parker

For me, John Connolly strikes the perfect balance between the crime, paranormal and noirish feel in his books. I am always very glad to be back with the main characters and Jeff Harding does an excellent job of bringing them to life. If I had any criticism at all it would be that the femal characters lack differentiation in the narration. However this is such a small issue overall it didn't affect my enjoyment of the books in any way.

Just gets better and better

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The suspense is nail biting and the characters are really bought to life, a great thriller which keeps you gripped from start to finish.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the Charlie Parker series and John Connoly captures the battle with good and evil in a way no other author can do. The series is never dull with new twists in each book.

What does Jeff Harding bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I have read the book and Jeff Harding captures the mannerisms of the characters perfectly, his voice is just meant to narrate this series. I had never heard of Jeff Harding before this (sorry Jeff) but, I can't imagine them being read by anyone else. There was a previous book read by another narrator and although well read I did not enjoy it as much. So hats off to Jeff Harding for doing such an amazing job, I particularly enjoy his portrayal of Angel.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed in places but mostly was in total suspense.
