Using AI for helping in day to day tasks in hospitals. Persevering with conviction for data sets that on the surface seem impossible. But then become foundational for others to build on.
I came here after looking at both Li’s talk on spatial intelligence. And also recent work on Segment Anything Model. And a friend who has just come back from Stanford who works in computer vision.
What a beautiful story to share. I’ve ordered it for my daughter. I’m also from a Chinese migrant family. I want my daughter to be surrounded by inspirations like her mum, and other examples and stories from around the world like Li.
As a software architect. We get to build on other people’s tools and technologies. But so awesome to remember the human story. As well as the reason for why we build with ai. Deeply encouraging to read of the people who have worked so hard in the background that help us do what we do. Especially elderly parents and teachers and families that show hospitality to migrants to help us participate and contribute in our new home country.

I purchased the book hoping to learn about ai and all I got was complaints about being an immigrant and the challenges we face.
Stick to your field of expertise which I thought was AI rather than writing a diary of your life.
