About this listen

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector rides into our valley and leads one of us to the home of the immortal Frost King, to remain forever.

Today is that day—Collecting Day.

But he will not come for me. I, Raina Bloodgood, have lived in this village for twenty-four years, and for all that time he has passed me by.

His mistake.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister. On Collecting Day, she means to exact murderous revenge, but a more sinister threat sets fire to her world. Rising from the ashes is the Collector, Alexus Thibault, the man she vowed to slay and the only person who can help save her sister.

Thrust into an age-old story of ice, fire, and ancient gods, Raina must abandon vengeance and aid the Witch Collector or let their empire—and her sister—fall into enemy hands. But the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who's stealing her heart?

DNF - fell a bit flat for me

It started well, but then it became a little boring. Maybe a bit harsh but… this book just didn’t do it for me.

Good (if you're a romantasy fan)

I'm one of those readers who enjoys romance and fantasy separately but is continually disappointed by romantasy. So, if you are also a straight fantasy reader looking for something with more spice, this is one of the more developed worlds as far as romantasy goes but both the romance and fantasy elements felt really mid to me. If you are a romantasy girlie however, I think you'll do fine.

Also, the FMC is a sign language user and this is represented on audio with a kind of flat, halting speech, which honestly I could have done without.

Next book downloaded to go ....

Get through the first half of this book, and you will be rewarded. Yes, it's a little tedious, but the rest is achingly beautiful and angsty. I loved the world building and magic. Plus I love an evil baddie

pretty good

I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it was good. I would have liked a bit more description in places but that may have been the narration.

Fantastic and totally underrated

Beautifully crafted and written story, magic and relationships. Intimacy deliciously uncliche. Narration excellent. Looking forward to next book in series and anything else written by this author.

Not bad, if a bit juvenile

I feel like the story is a good idea but the execution was a bit silly.
like she loves a boy, then him and her whole family seemingly dies and then within a few days she's making out with someone she's supposed to hate and falling in love. It happens all so quick that it's a bit silly.

If I was reading the physical book I probably would've given up pretty early in but the good thing about audible is its no effort on my end.

Also I feel the 2 different narrators don't go very well together not to mention the voice that the female narrator uses when Alexis is speaking sounds so different to the male narrator and vice versa. I feel it would be a million times better and easier to be immersed in if they read it more like a play doing their own character's lines.
