There are times when life feels like it has you cornered: financial difficulties, relationship issues, work problems, all of the above. Every one of us, at one time or another, will have to face up to the challenges that come our way. And there are two ways of meeting them: negatively, where blame is the answer, where other people are at fault, where you haven’t been treated fairly. Or positively, where you own the situation, learn and grow from it and become a better person at the end of it.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

By contrast, back in Australia Hugh knew that all too many children struggled with depression, social anxieties and mental illness. His own little sister had been ravaged by anorexia nervosa. How was it that young people he knew at home, who had food, shelter, friends and a loving family, struggled with their mental health, while these kids seemed so contented and resilient?

Love Wim but not this book
It is really disappointing that this was not narrated by Wim. The American narrator does not suit the style of the book and it just sounds odd such a personal story being told by someone else.
The performance sounds too dramatic. The content was enjoyable but overall would not recommend.

Likely won't add anything to your knowledge
I think very highly of Wim. I do his breathing exercises and take cold showers. I had hoped to gain some new knowledge, insight or practice from this book. Nothing new was shared that I had not already known from his many YouTube interviews and casts. If you are very new to his method, deffinitely worth a listen but otherwise not.

I totally loved this book. Easy to listen too and heaps of ideas to grab onto. Even if you think Wim Hof is a little crazy you can’t help but love him anyway. Whilst not for everyone, if you are on the Self Improvement path, don’t miss this one.
PS. Much easier to follow instructions for Wim Hof Method when they are read out to you than trying to follow along by reading them.

Transformational
I have always been intrigued by this method and this man. This book did not disappoint.
As a free diver, I have explored my breath using various techniques, investigated many approaches to breathing for prolonged exposure under water and have been building my breath hold slowly over time.
This book gave me yet another view on breathing. However rather than focusing on how long I can hold my breath, it has shown me the positive benefits throughout my entire body, through use of these simple techniques.
Wim, your a bloody legend!! Just breathe mother fucker!!

I feel like it was a little to OTT. The style of writing. And the narrator, like the author, is over the top. In the style of the writer. It just grated on me. The book could have been one hour in length if he wasn’t blowing smoke up his own ar5e. I did enjoy the concept.
