Publisher's Summary

Charley Willis was 13 years old when her parents were killed in their family home and she was found hiding in a cupboard upstairs.

Fifteen years later, Charley is marrying Seth Chambers. It should be the happiest day of their lives, a chance for Charley to put her past behind her, but just hours after the ceremony, she is missing.

No one saw her leave. No one knows where she is.

One thing is for certain…Seth is about to discover he doesn’t really know the woman he just married. And his nightmare is only just beginning.

A totally gripping psychological thriller that will keep you listening until the very last jaw-dropping twist.

The wife’s secret

Could not finish the book as the narrator was awful
The story while advertised an unputdownable was far from that.

Great story

Great plot. Great characters. No major surprising twists in my opinion, but still held my attention. I loved it and thought it was well written.

Soap opera? NOT a psychological thriller!

I'll be honest, I just couldn't finish this. This reads more like a soap opera, annoyingly so. Moves too slow.
The narration was just plain weird. I usually love Brittish narration of audiobooks, but this was just too much syrup and drivel...does anyone really talk like this in real life? Think Mrs. Doubt fire, yeah, that strange.

Good, but no more than that

The book was good but disappointing. The premise was good but much of the book moved too slowly and was far from the “gripping” mentioned in the subtitle, though it definitely held my interest. The second half moves faster and the last 20-30% has more twists etc. The narration was good overall, but I found it ranged from great to good. Particularly with the portrayal of Charley. At times it was really good, but other times I found the little girl voice she used to be irritating, especially when she sounded like whispering in a tiny breathy kind of voice.

Completely Engaging

I was completely engaged in this book. I could hardly put it down. I wanted more. The story was captivating. If you want a story that has suspense, romance, and hard to predict this is the book for you.

Nothing Riveting About This Novel

The Wife's Secret is described as a gripping psychological thriller, but I didn't find it gripping in the least nor would I describe it as a thriller. There definitely weren't any heart-stopping twists and turns. Talk about false advertising!

It's one of those books that all the secrets are revealed in the last 1-2 hrs. I would not recommend this book.

Keeps you guessing...

Excellent tale of secrets and lies, of families and fame and everything in between.
Well-drawn characters and a real guess-who at the end.

Mediocre book

I struggled through 2 thirds of this book I felt although dreadful things happened to the main family nobody asked anybody obvious questions about these things. Excuses for this were because people were
"private" or things were "too personal" to ask anybody. Can you believe coming home beaten up and your husband asks if you want a cup of tea. This is what I found so annoying. I picked up during the last chapters. Although very predictable and not very exciting.
Narration really good

Another great book by Wilkinson

I was having a bad week and an audio slump. I couldn't get into any books I started about 5 in a row and stopped them all. I've just finished this book after another Wilkinson book and My joy for audio has returned. It's an exciting story with lots of plots twists. Really enjoyed it

On the slow side

The overall plot was fairly good but I felt as if I was just wanting to get to the end because I was bored. It jumped around a lot. Didn’t have me gripped to my seat.

Meh... was ok... narration drove me a bit nuts

Storyline ok.... little bit frustrating - Seth a bit emotionless but overall entertaining

Narration drove me nuts however... weird internation and far too much emotion in the narrator’s voice all the time

Gripping?

I am just not sure...a quarter of the way through I was tempted to return the title, but convinced myself that it would speed up and get better.....it didn’t. It was obvious from the beginning what had happened and why.
Would I listen to another’s? No.
Could be personal taste,, but this just does not compare to the other audio books that I have listened to over the past couple of months....just not my cup of tea.

Good storyline

Different to the usual psychological thrillers I listen too. I didn't guess the killer, until the very end. the ending ended too soon, there should have been another chapter or an epilogue, but otherwise, good.
