For years, rumors of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life - until the unthinkable happens.

It happened the day of the Moon Festival. It could have been left behind, they all could have moved on with their lives. But secrets have a habit of rising to the surface, especially in small towns. Two couples, four ironclad friendships, the perfect coastal holiday town. With salt-stung houses perched like lifeguards overlooking the shore, Lago Point is the scene of postcards, not crime scenes. Publisher's Summary
Set against the backdrop of an eerie island town in the dead of winter, The Wife and the Widow is a mystery-thriller told from two perspectives: Kate, a widow whose grief is compounded by what she learns about her dead husband’s secret life; and Abby, an island local whose world is turned upside down when she’s forced to confront the evidence that her husband is a murderer.

I hadn’t read any of Christian White’s books until The Wife & the Widow....but wow! The twists & turns had me thinking deeply to work out “who had dunnit” I was wrong until the last chapter.
This was such an amazing plot & well read by Caz Prescott.

Kept me interested the whole way....
Just enough twists to keep me wanting to hear more...
There were moments where I got a bit lost between past and present but it wasn't a huge issue, I got there in the end. The twists were more subtle in the beginning which I liked, it got a little bit dramatic for my liking in the end but well worth the listen.
