About this listen

Leaving Swindon behind her to hide out in the Well of Lost Plots (the place where all fiction is created), Thursday Next, Literary Detective and soon-to-be one parent family, ponders her next move from within an unpublished book of dubious merit entitled 'Caversham Heights'.

Landen, her husband, is still eradicated, Aornis Hades is meddling with Thursday's memory, and Miss Havisham - when not sewing up plot-holes in 'Mill on the Floss' - is trying to break the land-speed record on the A409.

But something is rotten in the state of Jurisfiction. Perkins is 'accidentally' eaten by the minotaur, and Snell succumbs to the Mispeling Vyrus. As a shadow looms over popular fiction, Thursday must keep her wits about her and discover not only what is going on, but also who she can trust to tell about it...

With grammasites, holesmiths, trainee characters, pagerunners, baby dodos and an adopted home scheduled for demolition, 'The Well of Lost Plots' is at once an addictively exciting adventure and an insight into how books are made, who makes them - and why there is no singular for 'scampi'.

Please note: Chapter 13 has been intentionally omitted from this title.

Suspend your disbelief by the door and plunge into the world of fiction, where anything can and does happen. Thursday is forced to retreat into the real spaces behind books and take up the role of a JurisFiction officer, policing storylines and characters. There's a whole lot of whimsy, think talking eggs, grammar eating birds and attempted assassinations of Heathcliffe from Wuthering Heights. If you've always wished you could interact with your favourite characters and enjoy fantasy then this book is for you.

This is fast paced and very clever, so much so, that it can be difficult to keep up at times.
The narration is excellent.
If you feel like something witty, clever and light hearted, I highly recommend it.
But I advise you to start with the first book in the series, as there is a lot of back story.

this might be booked 3 in Thursdays story but it is almost a prequel to the nursery crime series, it gives you a beautiful look into the world of Jack sprat before nursery crime.

I’ve only “read” the first three books, and this is by far my fave! I feel that this book gives you a better look at the worlds inside books, which I really love.

I’m looking forward to my to “reading” the next book!

Best book I’ve read so far in this series
