An amazing story

This book has lots of different emotions like one moment it might be sad next it might be so exciting that you can’t put it down.

What I disliked about this book is that you have to wait till the last 10 chapters to get the most excitement.

I recommend this book to anyone who can take excitement or maybe just not little kid’s👍 read on because the next book has so much gore 🤟✌️

My children say that the story is very interesting

The story captivated all of us. It's very well written and told. We're looking forward to listening to the next books.

lots of death

I liked all the training, but I’m more into happy endings. I liked learning about Japan and Samurai and Ninjas, but too many friends died.

The next books aren’t audiobooks anyway, and so I won’t pick them up.

What if Hogwarts was in Kyoto & Voldemort was a 🥷

I started book 1 on Friday and it’s late Sunday night and I just finished book 3... what an unexpected emotional journey and joy this series proved to be. My love of feudal Japan and the culture fueled a small part of my enjoyment of the book I’m certain. The hand to hand, archery, horsemanship, sword play, themes of honor, duty, love, companionship, justice, racism, revenge, & blind hate.

*** disclaimer the author has a seriously vindictive cruel streak that would make J.K. proud, Fred, Remus & Tonks, Sirius, book 6, etc... prepare for the feels before the ride is over.

One small grievance is through the whole 3 books there are a handful of production blips. 4-5 times throughout the series you will hear a ripple in the Matrix. You will hear a ripple in the Matrix. ;) also there are 3-ish random bleeps or something like a digital audio compression squelch?

Thanks for the ride Mr. Bradford,

Hope to see books 4 & 5 on Audible sometime!

Wonderful story, excellent narration

I really enjoyed this book. It was third in the series. The performance by the narrator was great. He used many voices and the different characters were distinct and easy to keep up with. After reading these books, I felt a wonderful optimism and comfort that there are good people in the world. I hope to listen to the rest of the eight book series. I haven’t found them in the Audible inventory yet.

one cliche after another

Even though the story was well written with great description, it is wrought with one cliche after another. Jack, the main character, can defeat and defend against real tough characters, but not against his school rivals and bullies? The narrator, after three books, still can't seem to pronounce Japanese words properly. I can see why Audible discontinued the series, it was an embarrassment and a pathetic performance of the language. I call it butchery, but even butchers have their standards. If one is going to read another language, do us all favor and research the topic and proper pronunciation, please.

One of My Fave Series

I 1st read this series when I was in middle school and I come back for more every year. Although I am deeply saddened that the rest of the audio books are not available I will still go and read the ebooks. The story never gets old and is always fascinating . It is a wonderful mix of drama intrigue romantic tension and musings on war and what it means to be a foreigner in a foreign land . Tears will be shed in this book so I would not recommend for children younger than 12.

Please Provide the Full Series

This was a welcomed addition to the series. The narration was great as usual, though this version has a few “extra” practice lines from the narrator that must’ve been missed in edit.

Overall the story was well paced, save the 3rd act which felt forced. It was hard to keep up with all of the *spoilers*. There were also moments when Jack just feels lucky (more so than usual) and it’s not because he’s earned it, it’s because he’s the protagonist. Other characters who were much deserving of an arc suffer the fate of not being the star of this story and that is unfortunate. For the first time in this series, I felt as if I was watching a network series instead of reading a kid’s version of “Shogun.”

Despite that, I’d like to see the rest of this series offered on Audible. The narrator has great voices and Chris Bradford has started a character journey that I would like to follow through to the end.

BREATH TAKING SERIES

What an outstanding ending! and a shocking one at that, there were a few editing mistakes and the first half of this book dragged on a bit, but the second half was so epic. All in all this trilogy has been AMAZING, one of my favourite book series of all time. Loved all the characters so much.
