Story
Would you be prepared to work for free? How would you like to bust your hump for a large corporation 60-plus hours a week without a wage or a single day off for the vague promise of some mysterious perks in the distant future? You'd refuse point blank, wouldn't you? But what if the job in question was playing a state-of-the-art fantasy MMORPG game? And what if this was the only thing you're really good at? Especially considering that your in-game partner is someone really special to you - and this person already lives a virtual life?

Story
It has been two years since the Shift - when most technology stopped working, and the laws of physics changed. Humanity has been brought to its knees. Like other survivors, Noah Henson has heard rumors of the Aelves. Among other guesses, predatory aliens seem as good as any other theory for what caused the Shift. But for Noah, everything else takes second place to survival, sometimes even self-respect... or any sort of decency. Lawless, post-apocalypse America had forced Noah to make many difficult decisions, and he has never seemed to choose correctly.

A game is only a game if you can quit. This is something I learned the hard way. I just wanted to let off some steam in virtual reality and ended up getting murdered and imprisoned in the body of one of the undead - slow, clumsy, and cursed to die at the hand of other players over and over again. The only way out of this awful predicament was to find the legendary Scroll of Rebirth, but the helpless plague-ridden corpse would need to be turned into a real killing machine. If only people knew what it was like to level up a dead rogue....

Great litrpg story
The audio version and retranslated version of this book is one the better litrpg books.
Eric Martin does a very good job of bring this story to life. I hope the other books in this series are retranslated for Eric Martin to read.

Good story Bad English
Would you consider the audio edition of The Way of the Clan to be better than the print version?
I imagine having a narrator could help with parsing the weird use of language but I've not read the print version so I couldn't say.
Any additional comments?
English is clearly not the author's first language and the phrasing can be .. unusual and very Russian. Personally I quite like it as it lends it a folksy fairytale feel, but it might not be to everyone's liking.

Book is great, the audible version very good too
OK, so I have all the books for this series, so far so I know I liked the plot. Story is well paced and not to fantastical. i.e. plausible playability and plausible character bonus's.
The pace of reading is very well done and the style is easy on the ear. Heartily recommend buying the books and listening to this is very good.
Get it.
