About this listen

From the author of the sensational TikTok-hit, From Lukov with Love, and the 'queen of the slow-burn romance'!

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn't find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He's asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

I am obsessed with Mariana Zepata. This is another winner.
Also has crossovers with characters from other books.

Beautiful story told very well. I have read this book so many times and it never gets old. My favorite story.
Well worth spending the credit on

Still my most favored book.

The blooming romance was very cute and kept me engrossed all the way through. I will say though that the writing sounded a bit like what I'd expect to read online, rather than from an officially published author. With the right editing the story would have been quite a bit shorter, and the amount of time spent on each scene would have been more balanced according to how significant the events were to the plot.

As it is, the internal monologues tend to be overly wordy and repetitive, and often minor scenes are fleshed out in great detail while events that had a lot of lead-up are completely skipped over. However the story was entertaining enough that I'll probably read more from this author.

The narrator was OK, but not amazing. I would have preferred a narrator with more range of emotional expression, or more varied pacing to break up the long stretches of internal monologue. I often found myself unsure whether she was speaking lines of dialogue or just the character's thoughts. But her opposite-gender voices were decent which is my main measure of success for a solo narrator.

Overall I've given this 4 stars and would recommend it with the caveats I've mentioned.

Cute slow burn love story, although editing could be better

This book ive read and listened to over n over so many times. If no other books can keep me interested enough… i will always look for MZs novels again. I love her style of writing.

My very first Zapata book and my absolute favourite! This is my third read and I’m still so obsessed.

Love love love

I liked the story line and the fact that for once the famous male sports person didn’t sleep with any woman who threw herself at him.

The female and male lead were evenly matched.

What a great book and good value

This has made it to my favourites list. Def will be re-listening.
A slow burn, the way the two main characters go from enemy’s to caring.

A nice weekend read/listen

There's a lot I didn't like about this. I just read Kulti and it was ok, but all of the same problems are worse here.
Lots of frustratingly repetitive inner dialogue (there's all this evidence that he likes me - but surely he doesn't like me! Blah blah repeat).
Just an awful MMC - what I would call abusive at times (no acknowledgement of her boundaries at first) and absolutely no empathy. Miraculously changes ingrained character traits to win the FMC. You don't have to have a character start off as a c*nt to show character growth and to have tension. Plus, I don't want to hang out with someone like that, even in a book.

Not good

I really tried to like this but it was SO slow. The writing style is overly descriptive in a way that there are unnecessary details. Overall cute story but could benefit from an edit…
