About this listen

From multi-million copy seller, K. L. Slater comes another breath-taking thriller, narrated by Claudia Jessie (star of Bridgerton & Line of Duty)

All she has to do is pretend to be his girlfriend…

Alicia has left her young son and sister to chase a better life in London. But she’s not just chasing opportunity, she’s running from the truth.

At the Orbit, an elite enclave towering above the city where the great and the good come to play, Alicia waits tables, watching everything.

When the charismatic owner of The Orbit offers her a deal - pretend to be her girlfriend in return for a salary and an apartment - Alicia accepts. After all, it’s only pretend … until it’s not.

Soon, Alicia is living the life she’s always dreamed of — but behind the flawless façade, something is deeply wrong and some deals cannot be broken. As her past begins to creep towards her, Alicia thought she was the only one playing a game.

It turns out she wasn’t alone…

the ending just leaves alot to be desired, the main adversary would have had to have been a complete moron for it to have played out how it did. just a bit of a rushed, un polished finish in my opinion

good story for the most part

As with other KL Slater stories, this one I listened to in slow short bites, like snacking on my favourite chocolates. Brilliantly written with just enough interesting players meandering through the plot to keep the mind wondering who was on whose side. The production and narration was edgy keeping the tension high enough not to trust anyone, or the short episodes of relief. Highly recommended listening.

Brilliant
