Publisher's Summary

In 2001, The Voice of the Heart began a steady journey into the lives of those looking for more. Since its initial release, The Voice of the Heart has been handed from one friend to another and has helped thousands of people begin to speak the truth of their story and to live more fully from the heart.

Chip Dodd invites us to begin to know our hearts so that we better know ourselves and can live fully in relationship with others and, ultimately, with God.

The journey begins with discovering the gift of the eight feelings. We have eight feelings that allow us to live fully in a tragic place - hurt, lonely, sad, anger, fear, shame, guilt, and glad. By listening to these eight God-given tools, we can be who we are made to be so we can do what we are made to do.

Connection to God

In recommend this book to anyone looking to connect closer to those around them and most importantly connecting to their deeper relationship with Christ. As you go through the 8 feelings it will create a deeper understanding of yourself as it relates to Christ. A great book to help guide everyday life’s ups and downs.

Great book to learn more about the heart.

Excellent read, very informative, englitening and to the point. A dive into the heart of a person and how to understand and sort through feelings and thoughts. A great book for reference and for rereading.

There must be value in the message of this book...

I struggled to distill the message from this book due to there being such an overwhelming amount of theological language and concepts.

I would love a another version of this book that would attempt to bring the concepts to light for those of us who may not be religious.

Healthy Perspective on Emotions

Not the most memorable listen, but worth doing multiple times to help shape thoughts around the emotions that challenge me. I am pairing this with The 5 Second rule to change my thinking and how I tackle addressing the way I deal with destructive thinking and emotional reactions. I already feel wiser and more capable of taking on life with love and gladness for the experience and journey. I would highly recommend this book even if you have to take it on in chunks to get through the contents. Those pieces that speak to me most right now we're easy to listen to and my heart begged for tapping to repeat along the way.

Insightful Writing on the Heart

I was introduced to Chip’s work through a men’s group, and this was my first chance to dive into the material via audio. The content is exceptional. I never understood the value of feelings, but rather spent most of my life being ashamed of them and suppressing them. This led to an unfulfilled life. I’m eager to take these teachings and live with my emotions vs. disregarding their dignity. Highly recommended.
