Publisher's Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Visitor by Lee Child, read by Jeff Harding.
Sergeant Amy Callan and Lieutenant Caroline Cooke have a lot in common.
Both were army highflyers. Both were acquainted with Jack Reacher. Both were forced to resign from the service.
Now they're both dead.
Found in their own homes, naked, in a bath full of paint.
Apparent victims of an army man. A loner, a smart guy with a score to settle, a ruthless vigilante.
A man just like Jack Reacher.

Kept me guessing.
Story kept me interested, wanting to keep listening. Left unanswered question re one character which seemed to be a hole in the story. Another good performance by Jeff Harding.

I enjoyed the first two books more.
A good mystery. I didn’t guess the killer. Still suspenseful and has some action but not as enjoyable as the first two.

I'm a big fan of Reacher but...
...there were moments in this book that made him seem like such a clueless dolt, not the expert ex-military police officer we know him as. This made some scenes so unbearable to listen to, you might doubt this is actually a Reacher novel. His womanising nature is problematic here too, sometimes he comes across as barely controlling his sexual urges by veiling it in some half-hearted notion of chivalry. Nevertheless, the overall story did have an intriguing hook, was pretty enjoyable and kept me guessing until the end.
Unfortunately the narrator grated on me so badly. His voice has a cadence about it that makes every sentence sound like he's reading the book in some kind of bullet point format, or that he's recorded the thing one line at a time. On top of that his voice for Reacher I think is a big factor in making the character sound like an idiot. It looks like all these books are narrated by Jeff Harding, so I'll probably have to go back to reading instead of listening for the rest of the series.

Narrator
I’m sorry but Jeff Harding as a narrator did nothing for me, couldn’t even listen to the whole book! I must be more attentive with my preview. So sad as I’ve read so many Lee Child’s, Jack Reacher, and was excited to be able to listen! I do hope other Lee Child audios have other narrators!

Cliched
Hypnosis as a primary plot device was weak writing , ending was disappointingly predictable. Whilst not terrible you can skip this book.

Disappointed
I don't normally leave negative reviews but this book frustrated the heck out of me. The premise of the story was excellent but it got lost by the fact that I thought it was a completely different author. Apart from the fact that 'said' is used 12million times, the writing makes the FBI out to be lawless idiot thugs who spend the book bullying Reacher into doing what they want. Reacher who in the 1st book quoted law like it was a second language is a meathead in this book. He let's the FBI get way with threats and intimidation. For a character who is built on loyalty and justice he was a woosie push over in this book and it seriously makes me rethink reading the next one.

Another quality listen
Great story. Keeps you interested throughout. Slightly more predictable than other titles but still a worthwhile listen.

Amazing work
huge amount of detail constructed into a jard-to-put-down story.
Ending was a bit predictable but only if you have read a lot of Reacher.

Amazing twist
The Visitor by Lee Child is a Reacher novel through and through. All the usual action but with more of a twist at the end that will keep you questing.
