About this listen
Here’s my story… a kid from Southern California who got caught in the wave of the Jesus Revolution…married a beautiful girl from Hawaii…moved to Uganda as missionaries…had three sons…made mistakes but found God always merciful….
The purpose of writing my simple story is to encourage your walk with Jesus. I pray we will be a lens for people to see through us to Jesus Christ, who has saved and sent us with Good News that is true and life changing.
After graduation from Moody Bible Institute, Covenant College, and Westminster Theological Seminary we moved to Arua, Uganda in 1983 to teach in St Paul’s Theological College (Ringili) of the Church of Uganda (Anglican). We were sent by the Africa Inland Mission.
We felt well equipped to bring God’s message to a country that was battered during the reign of Idi Amin through the 1970’s. But we soon became the pupils. We were schooled by brothers and sisters whose faith was forged through the fires of scarcity and suffering.
After the birth of our three sons, we moved to Mukono, Uganda to join the faculty of Bishop Tucker Theological College in the work of teaching pastors, ordinands, and their wives for the Church of Uganda.
The book narrates God’s mercy and faithfulness through all our adventures. There were times of danger and uncertainty, for us and those we grew to love, and His promises held securely. Living in Uganda gave us a front row seat to watch the Lord Jesus build His Church – as He promised to do – among the 20+ people groups in the nation. We had the special joy of seeing Him raise up leaders to lead His Church. We got much more than we gave during our eight years of service in Uganda.
