About this listen

When the lives of four very different women become entangled in a boutique Venice hotel, dark secrets unravel and not everyone who checked into the hotel will check out again.
Signora Loretta Bianchi, the world famous cook at Venice's Hotel Il Cuore, is forced to choose between once-in-a-lifetime passion and her devoted husband.
Sophie, on assignment in Venice as a food writer, finds a lot more than Signora Bianchi's secret recipes to love, but what is the charming Rocco hiding?
Law graduate Elena is sinking just like the endangered city she's returned home to, and she'll stop at nothing to be free from her marriage.
Grandmother Gayle's dream Venetian holiday turns sinister as she finds herself embroiled in a life or death escape.
Set against a backdrop of the romance and tragedy of magical Venice, The Venice Hotel explores the powerful bonds that develop between women in times of crisis, and the healing power of female connection.

The magic of Venice portrayed

The Hotel in Venice by Tess Woods is a beautifully layered, emotionally rich novel that stayed with me long after I finished it. The characters are deeply developed and their stories intertwine in such a natural, meaningful way. Venice is more than just a backdrop—it’s woven into the soul of the story, adding romance, melancholy, and timeless beauty. A moving exploration of love, memory, and the courage to face the past. One of my absolute favourites.

A must read

Characters were a bit weird but it’s an enjoyable light read with a slightly dark theme

Slow start but got into it and enjoyed the story line

A beautifully written story that deals intelligently with a number of challenging relationships and subjects through its cast of complex and generous characters. My only criticism of the performance is that it could have used a trigger warning given the domestic abuse subject matter.

Outstanding Storytelling

This is one of those standout novels you will fondly remember forever. Tess Woods has rocketed up my list of favourite Australian authors and will be a bestseller worldwide.
The Setting, Characters, Themes are incredible. Written so beautifully, from the perspectives of 4 very different women. Well paced and entertaining all the way through, even while tackling some serious issues so well. Then there is the glorious food.
You'll want to go out to dinner with your favourite people, to your most authentic Italian Restaurant, and plan a trip to Venice.

A Must Read, Clever and Beautifully Written
