About this listen

"The Valley of Fear" is the fourth and final full novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that featured his greatest creation: the world's first consulting detective, the brilliant and legendary Sherlock Holmes.

In this tale, Holmes receives an encoded message from an agent of Professor Moriarty (his arch nemesis), that a man's life is in danger. When, in fact, the man in question is murdered, Holmes insists to the authorities that Moriarty is responsible. But, as Moriarty appears to all the world to be an innocent man without any criminal connections whatever, Holmes' claims that Moriarty is, in fact, a criminal mastermind, fall on deaf ears.

Thus begins one of the most thrilling and twist-filled adventures that Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Dr. John Watson will ever undertake as Holmes pursues the evil kingpin Professor Moriarty and attempts—at last—to bring him to justice.

"The Valley of Fear" is presented here in its original and unabridged format.
