What to do when they say they’re Christian but don’t know Jesus

Whether it’s the Christmas and Easter Christians or the faithful church attenders whose hearts are cold toward the Lord, we’ve all encountered cultural Christians. They’d check the Christian box on a survey, they’re fine with church, but the truth is, they’re far from God. So how do we bring Jesus to this overlooked mission field?

Me. Me. Me! That was me! I thought I was a Christian...

Because I was raised in a Christian home was baptized and went to church. I was an unsaved Christian. Now I am one of those who are guilty of bringing Jesus into conversations with family and friends and everything getting really awkward. I appreciate the clarity of the author and the respect and love he shows for those who think they are good with God but may be mistaken. Insightful questions at the end of each chapter; an accurate use of Scripture; super easy to listen to on audible. This is a must read for every professing believer.

The story of so many...

I absolutely love this book! I recommend this to any Christian that is trying to reach a person who claims to be a Christian when they are clearly not saved. The author offers some very practical tips on how to minister to what is probably the largest mission field in the United States. listening to this book you will realize just how watered down the Gospel of Jesus Christ has become in America. listening to some of the examples of cultural Christianity that the author gives actually made me quite angry because it is nothing more than a mockery of the true gospel and Jesus Christ. And I also have in the past reached out to many cultural Christians that gives a similar reaction as the author describes where they dig their heels in, insist that they are fine, and that you're just more religious than they are. as the author says, only through patient, loving, and compassionate ministering and witnessing to a cultural Christian will be effective. there really is no magic formula. it's simply a matter of sharing from the Bible what the Bible actually says about salvation and evidence of saving faith and modeling the gospel by your words, attitudes, and behavior. as this book stresses, we must come from a place of humility when witnessing the cultural Christians. this book will greatly increase your understanding of this dilemma of christless Christianity and help you to be more effective in your efforts to win "unsaved Christians" to Christ.

the book title is perfect. there are so many "Christians" that think they are saved and going to heaven when they really may not, so ask them hard questions out if love.

Wonderful Work

Dean Inserra wrote an absolutely fantastic book here, that was both insightful and instructive. This should be used in Evangelism courses in SBC seminaries.

Bible based truth

This is it, the straight truth about the Bible and the state of Christianity in the US today. If you aren't accepting of these principles in this book, then your argument is not with the author but with the Bible as all his points are clearly Biblically referenced. Challenge yourself to listen and consider.

Off the mark

The author makes some good points. However he spends most of his time tearing down other denominations. He also makes broad generalizations which highlight his ignorance.
I would have liked to heard the success he is having in battling this phenomenon. It's easy to stand back and throw stones instead of finding new solutions to persistent problems.

Ouch

The author leaves no one unscathed in this book. If you think you are on the right side because you are a Republican OR a Democrat, you are wrong. If you think you are safe because you are a member of a particular church or denomination, you are wrong. If you think you are going to Heaven because you tithe and go to church every week, you are wrong. None of these things will get us there. We all need to check ourselves in the mirror of this book. And then we need to get back to God's word.
