Publisher's Summary

For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime - even love - in this witty and swoon-worthy romance from the New York Times best-selling duo who “hilariously depict modern dating” (Us Weekly) and authors of Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating and Roomies.

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in...well, everything. Her identical twin sister, Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag), and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now, there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of...lucky.

With Christina Lauren’s “uniquely hilarious and touching voice” (Entertainment Weekly), The Unhoneymooners is a fun and charming romance that is perfect for anyone who has ever felt unlucky in love.

Just okay

Pretty disappointing - storyline and dialogue kept near-miss hitting for me, and was also disappointed that it wasn't dual pov with more of Deacon Lee than just the epilogue. The female narrator did a pretty good job, but I enjoy Deacon and was just expecting more of him. also, love scenes were not like her other books at all - more like old movies where you see doors close on lovers as they kiss.

Amazing read & audiobook!

Love it a lot! Olive's family is hilarious and all her little awkward gestures during the honeymoon made me laugh out loud! Thank you Christina Lauren for writing the book and the Cynthia for doing the narration!

A great read for a lazy day at the beach

I really enjoyed this book and the way the relationship between Olive and Ethan evolved. Olive's sardonic outlook and the banter between her and Ethan gave me heaps of LOL moments.
The story was well constructed, giving the perfect amount of colour and background to the other characters to allow the reader (and listener) to get a real sense of exactly what's going on.
Well narrated by Cynthia Farrell. Great book, content not too heavy - actually makes a perfect beach book.

Great experience and story overall

Loved the story, and apart from some of the inflections of the narrator sounding off, the performance of the narrator was fantastic too!

Fun Read

This was a light, funny read. The narrator was very good, but I felt her male voices made all the men sound like slow, unintelligent 'dudes'. Was great to hear the male narrator at the end.

Narration Frustration

loved the story! I really just wish that when they've got two voice actors for the narration they would have them each speak the dialogue no matter which point of view that particular chapter is from.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this story and literally devoured it. The narration was great, Cynthia Farrell changes up her voice very well and sometimes a great narrator makes all the difference. I loved Olive and Ethan, especially Ethan, his no bullsh*t, honest attitude was refreshing and i swooned hard. Overall this was funny, endearing, heartfelt and i loved it!

Freakin' LOVE IT!!

Before buying I read some of the other reviews - one in particular saying that it was predictable. That's true, but in the BEST way!! I binged this book so hard. Pretty sure all the other commuters thought I was crazy as I drove to and from work, grinning like crazy!! Definitely planning to check out some other titles by this author. You've got a new fan, and I have a new chick-lit fave author!!

I really enjoyed the story, it was funny and i could feel the embarrassment and awkwardness between the two characters. the narration was kind of lacking, all the dudes sounded the same, but it was fine

Cute, fun story. PG-13 sex, like a rom-com movie.

I loved Cynthia Farrell, but I couldn't get into Deacon Lee. I like enemies-to-lovers stories, and I liked that this spent more time on the sexual tension and romance between the characters than the sex.

Cute, in a creepy way.

I am not a "romance" reader. I do have the Audible romance package. Weird, huh? I don't mind a good story with some romance thrown in. A book with a story that can hold it's own without trash talk and erotic sex to get it through. This book was just that. It was a great book! I laughed! A LOT!!
I highly recommend this book if you are in the mood for some humor, and a little fun chick-lit. The narrators were great too!

The Unhoneymooners

I loved it, everything about this book I loved, I loved the characters the fact that they are twins. The brother, the family the lucky or unlucky storyline.

I felt terrible for Olives sister but it was a great twist and it really got the story off on the right foot. Ethan stole the show for me he really is an awesome character, I was rooting for him right from the get-go.

How it all plays out and the epilogue freaking fantastic, I really enjoyed this book can you tell?

The narration was great I enjoyed it and since most of the book was narrated by Cynthia it was interesting I don’t believe I have listened to any of her books before but I will be looking for her from here on out. Also, Deacon’s performance was grand.

Predictable, AWFUL MALE READER

While this was mildly entertaining, it was insanely predictable. Story was half baked, fine, but not great. Cynthia Farrell did a great job of reading Olive’s part- she would get 5 stars, but the entire relationship between Olive and Ethan was ruined by Deacon Lee. Deacon would get zero stars for his narration. Deacon was slimy, short, and did not convey Ethan’s personality the way Cynthia did. The overall story idea was “cute” but that’s not enough for me to want to listen again.

Cute, but Tiresome...

This is an adult romance, but it’s written more through the eyes of teenagers. There’s a great deal of self-doubt, on-going negative comments and a general sense of immaturity. Cute, but predictably tiresome.

Fun but predictable

I was looking for an easy summer read and thought The Unhoneymooners would be perfect. Even though the story was predictable, overall I enjoyed it. The only issue I had was with the narrator. As soon as she did her voice for Ethan she lost me. It was so bro-ey (surfer frat boy?) sounding I was immediately put off by his character. Who talks like that?! I was distracted by the voice for the first half of the story and cringed every time she did his voice. I got used to it toward the end, but I felt I would have enjoyed the book more if I read it.

Not my favorite by this writing duo

Christina Lauren books are an automatic download for me, but I've found the last couple to be less than stellar, this one included. It wasn't bad, just not great. I didn't feel very invested in the characters and found the "hating" over one moment from years ago was overdone and went on far too long. Even when Ethan had proven to be a decent guy, the enemy role kept creeping in, which became annoying, rather than a build up with fun banter. When an entire story is built on simple misunderstandings, which seem easily resolved, it reaches a point of being tiresome. I didn't love the drama with the secondary characters - the siblings - which also seemed to be a stretch to add another layer to the story.
Certainly provided some entertainment for a long commute, but not what I'd hoped for.

So funny and heartwarming

I really enjoyed how both main characters annoyed each other in this book- it’s a truly great hate to love romance. Even though there was some VERY steamy moments- this proved to be a good laugh-out loud read

Great book, I really enjoyed it! 5*

I really enjoyed this book and how it was narrated. Did I know the outcome before starting it? Of course! BUT this book just had a great feeling about it, something a little different and I listened to it extremely quickly and will be listening to it again. I haven't read/listened to books by this author before but I will be listening to more after this book. I'd really recommend it!

Not my cup of tea.

I am hearing a lot of good review from my friends over at bookstagram about how swoonworthy this book is and that's the main reason why I decided to download this book.

But this book is problematic. Main characters are self-centered and the toxic masculinity present in the entirety of the storyline is too much to swallow. And this is coming from me, a man who knows the line and what's in between.

I hate Ethan for being the enabler of his brother's misogyny and how he view Abi and Olive. From that specific moment, I knew that whatever happened in the end will not be enough to justify the wrongdoings of the brothers.

Overall, I love the beginning of the story and how this was built until *that part* happened. Sorry, this is not my cup of tea.

Dissapointed

This is so boring and uneventful.
I dont want to be mean. I finished it in a day because I found it so boring that I listened most of it in full speed.

This is meant to be an enemies to lovers story but they never hated each other. In the narration they say they did but it's so obvious they absolutely didn't.

I think if you liked this you should definitely check out "Red, White & Royal blue" which was brilliantly written and had a much better plot. Especially with the elements enemies to lovers and forbidden romance.

Disappointing

I foumd it disappointing. I,m probably in the minority, but it didn’t,t live up to expectations before rgoimg into this book. I found it hard to believe the relationship between Olive and Eithen. Also, it’s a bit misleading; as this is narrated by only 1 narrator instead of two.
