Very low bar achieved

Poor writing. Jumps between 1st and 3rd person in a confusing way. Interesting concept, readers who can ignore obvious flaws (not kidding, this is only one example ) ‘good character’ gets infected with a single drop of spittle, but others wading into masses of undead with axes is fine. Whole books are paid per word, so you get long passages of irrelevant content that add nothing to narrative. This is not a classic, lots of people seem to like it, so buy it if you you’re not interested in believability or gritty realism. These two factors define good zombie novels, and this series has none of that.

great story, fresh take on the genre

really enjoying tis series! no troupes or any story twists you see coming. Some really genuine moments which make you smile and laugh aswell. Feels pretty genuine in the way people are reacting as the story progresses.

still funny and engaging

like the previous 2 books, this one has the hilarious side stories (wait until the toilet scene... it'll have you in stitches). Howie talking to himself about his 'dark sides' gets a bit annoying and seems to be wasting time/stretching out the story further. I skipped through those scenes. I love the developing friendship of Howie and Dave, and it's nice to see Howie finally has a love interest. great story overall. I'll be listening to the 4th one.

Ok until....

I have been enjoying the series but was disappointed went our hero started praying. Don't mix religion in with zombies. It was a real put off. If the theme continues in the next book I'm out.

This is where it lost me

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I personally was taking it as a little tongue in cheek and it was a fairly easy listen but it really went down hill when there was an entire section on Howie taking a dump/Howie staring at a hot girl/Clarence staring at a hot girl/back slapping for Howie turning into this incredible leader.

A quick look online reveals there are several more novels and with no sign of stopping... I am not going to waste any more money on this. If you want a good zombie novel read/listen to World War Z. The author would do well to do so and realise why cannons and archers wouldn't drop "literally hundreds".

Good effort, but falls short of the mark. Good narrator though!
