About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

When it comes to genes life's a lottery....

As Abi knows - she's spent her life in the shadow of her beautiful, glamorous older sister Cleo. Headhunted as model when she was 16, Cleo has been all but lost to Abi for the last 20 years. So when Abi is invited to spend the summer in Cleo's large London home with her perfect family, she agrees despite serious misgivings. But maybe Cleo is finally as keen as Abi to regain the closeness they shared in their youth?

Abi is in for a shock. Soon she's left caring for her two young, spoilt nieces and handsome, unhappy brother-in-law, while Cleo plainly has other things on her mind. As Abi moves into her sister's life, a cuckoo in the nest, she wrestles with uncomfortable feelings.

Could having beauty, wealth and fame lead to more unhappiness than not having them? Who in the family really is the ugly sister?

I really enjoyed this book and came to love the characters! I was a bit disappointed in the ending however. There wasn’t really any conclusion to the things that were building in the book.

Kept me wanting more

I enjoyed this story but I’m assuming there is a sequel. It just stops.... strange

Great book but unfinished.

I couldn’t stop listening

I reviewed this book before it ended, and while I enjoyed it and stated it fell short of Fallons usual standard, when I heard the ending I was disappointed. It was like she had to get it off to the publisher finished or not. It wasn't a cliff hanger, it just stopped!

2nd Review - Ending Unsatisfying

I wasn’t soo keen on the narrator , i felt her performance was mediocre and the story itself didn’t help either as it lacked depth .

So la la

Ending was a bit of an anti-climax. Was still expecting more story when it finished.

Good story

Story is enjoyable and interesting however it ends rather abruptly making it very disappointing - I wouldn't recommend, there are much better Jane Fallon books on offer.

Felt like it ended abruptly - disappointing ending

The character build up and descriptions are great but the sudden ’non end’is such an anticlimax!! What happened? Did the author run out of steam?
The narrator is great
But I feel robbed and let down!!!!!
Sure- we can ‘write our own’ imagined end to this love triangle - and it may be trendy for the author to steer away from a neat ‘Hollywood ‘ story- BUT- for a relaxing, entertaining audiobook this is is not good enough
Try again Jane Fallon!

Abrupt ‘non ending’ spoils good story

I was so looking forward to getting into a good Jane Fallon book as I'm a fan of her writing, but I really struggled with this.
The narrator was the main issue. All the way through (well, as far in as a few chapters anyway, because I just couldn't finish it...) she sounded so bored reading this and as if she really couldn't be bothered. The story told in a continuous 'sing-song' tone was very irritating and I couldn't concentrate, or get into the actual plot or unfolding of events.
The characters' names sounded like they were from an Enid Blyton book, and everything was awfully upper middle class British. Maybe I'll just avoid anything narrated by Joanna Bobin in future, as I don't want to be put off Jane Fallon's books!

Disappointing.

The story seemed to be building and then it just ends without warning. It’s like they lost the last chapter of the book.

Terrible ending!!!
