About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The bestselling author of Getting Rid of Matthew and My Sweet Revenge tells the story of a woman living in her sister's shadow.

When it comes to genes, life is a lottery . . .

Abi knows that all too well, having spent her life in the shadow of her beautiful, glamorous older sister Cleo.

Headhunted as a model at sixteen, Cleo has been all but lost to Abi for twenty years. So when Abi is invited to spend the summer with her sister's perfect family, she says yes. Maybe Cleo is finally as keen as Abi to regain their childhood closeness?

But Abi is in for a shock. Soon she's left in charge of her two spoilt nieces and her handsome, unhappy brother-in-law. As she moves into her sister's life, a cuckoo in the nest, Abi wrestles with uncomfortable feelings.

Could having beauty, wealth and fame lead to more unhappiness than not having them? Who in the family really is the ugly sister?

A triumph of snappy writing, pointed observation and acerbic wit

Chick lit with an edge
Sparkling and unpredictable
You can always rely on Jane Fallon for a well-crafted, dryly-funny, just-one-more-chapter-before-I-turn-out-the-light read
Compulsively readable
Deliciously devious . . . A darkly comic and addictive read
I love Jane Fallon, she's in a category all of her own - her books are great fun and her characters are fabulous, believable women who take no nonsense (Marian Keyes)

I really enjoyed this book and came to love the characters! I was a bit disappointed in the ending however. There wasn’t really any conclusion to the things that were building in the book.

Kept me wanting more

I enjoyed this story but I’m assuming there is a sequel. It just stops.... strange

Great book but unfinished.

I reviewed this book before it ended, and while I enjoyed it and stated it fell short of Fallons usual standard, when I heard the ending I was disappointed. It was like she had to get it off to the publisher finished or not. It wasn't a cliff hanger, it just stopped!

2nd Review - Ending Unsatisfying

I wasn’t soo keen on the narrator , i felt her performance was mediocre and the story itself didn’t help either as it lacked depth .

So la la
