Story
On the tiny Scottish island of Mure, Christmas preparations are even more hectic than usual.... Especially when their motley staff includes a temperamental French chef, a spoilt Norwegian kitchen boy who can't peel a potato without mutilating his own hand and a painfully shy kitchen assistant who blushes when anyone speaks to her. Can they pull it together in time for the big opening? And can Flora help her family find happiness this Christmas?

Lana Montgomery is everything the quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska can't stand: a rich socialite with dreams of changing things for the better. Story
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

Lainey has just lost everything. Luckily one little fib (OK, quite a big fib) helps nail her dream job. Soon she's living in a stunning house by the sea, fending off obsessed fans for a retired - if far-from-retiring - actor and organising his charming but chaotic family. Yes, everyone thinks she's part of a couple, and it's tricky keeping this secret. But at least she's not looking for love: with her disastrous relationship history, men are definitely off the agenda.

Publisher's Summary
Warm, funny and oh-so-relatable, The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss is an uplifting festive romantic comedy, for all those who loved One Day in December - the most romantic, feel-good tale of 2020, perfect for fans of Beth O'Leary and Josie Silver.
On the first day of Christmas, a dating app offered me
Twelve tailored chances for perfect harmony.
Kate Turner is happily single - a bit too happily, in fact. Since returning to her hometown of Blexford, a sleepy village where everybody knows each other, and between catching up with her oldest friends Laura and Matt, a flourishing career as a fabric designer, and taking care of her beloved dad, love hasn’t really had a look in.
But Kate does love Christmas. So when Laura insists she signs up to the 'Twelve Dates of Christmas', a brand new dating app service, she doesn’t need too much persuading. Twelve perfect festive dates with the area’s most eligible men - who could say no?
Amongst the twinkling lights and over hot chocolates and glasses of red wine, romance is easy to find. But with each date, Kate learns more about the men and even more about herself.
As the big day approaches, Kate’s left wondering - is it really the season for true love, or will this Christmas be the coldest yet?

Easy happy listening
This is a very enjoyable Christmas time story. Predictable in its ending but that doesn’t matter. It’s not cheesy. The description of food is excellent I could smell it and taste it. I would definitely recommend this book.

Mulled wine and mince pies in book form!
If ever there was a year to summon up every reserve of Christmas spirit, 2020 is it. Thank goodness then for Jenny Bayliss and her fabulously festive debut, The Twelve Dates of Christmas, as it could warm even the most Scrooge-like of hearts! Kate is an enormously likeable, down to earth and caring protagonist and the remaining cast of characters in this book are each well rounded and believable. The dates themselves are not only incredibly imaginative but often downright hilarious and the reader gains insight along with Kate about what makes a relationship tick and the baggage that we all carry that holds us back. There is a satisfying love story at the heart of this book which had me well and truly rooting for Kate until the very end. The star of this book for me is the village of Blexford itself and the world that the author has created. The descriptions of village life and particularly their Christmas traditions certainly inspire a truckload of festive spirit; the carolling walk scene is particularly beautiful. This book is all about making the little things in life truly special. After all why just knock back a mug of nescaff when Kate savours an endless menu of increasingly imaginative coffee variations? In Blexford, Jenny Bayliss has created a world in which I would dearly love to inhabit with simple pleasures and community at its heart. If you’re looking for a book to warm your cockles and set the festive season off in the right foot, then this is the one for you. I guarantee that once you have read it, you’ll be planning your most festive Christmas yet!
