Story
Bird is a woman on the run. One minute, she's in a meeting in her office in Birmingham - the next, she's walking out on her job, her home, her life. It's a day she thought might come, and one she's prepared for - but nothing could prepare her for what will happen next. As she flees north using multiple disguises, Bird has to work out who exactly is on her trail, and who - if anyone - she can trust. Like many people, she has fantasised about escape for a long time, but now it's actually happening. Is her greatest fear that she will be hunted down, or that she will never be found?

It's the following Thursday.
Elizabeth has received a letter from an old colleague, a man with whom she has a long history. He's made a big mistake, and he needs her help. His story involves stolen diamonds, a violent mobster and a very real threat to his life.
As bodies start piling up, Elizabeth enlists Joyce, Ibrahim and Ron in the hunt for a ruthless murderer. And if they find the diamonds, too? Well, wouldn't that be a bonus?
But this time, they are up against an enemy who wouldn't bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can the Thursday Murder Club find the killer (and the diamonds) before the killer finds them?

Very entertaining read
Absolutely loved this excellent 2nd book. If you haven't read the 1st one you're missing out. Great characters, laugh out loud moments, mystery and intrigue. Really enjoyed the narration, and the way they used their voice very subtly to differentiate the characters.
Can't wait for the next book?

Thankyou for a perfect murder mystery
I loved this as much as the first instalment. Richard's plots, characters and observations come together to make the most sublime stories. I haven't enjoyed a series this much since The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency books and similarly, find it's a joy to have Richard's characters and Leslie's interpretation of them in my life. The book is heart-warming, uplifting, funny, sad and deliciously murderous!

Different type of murder with some humor
I feel that the book was too long but the writer mentioned at the end that it may be better to hear it on a faster rate than 1 times.
You do have to consider all the characters to get the whole story and think about what was the plots but also the twists in the story makes concentration heavy but then broken up by the humor. At one point I couldn’t stop laughing.
Other than the length of the story, I did get into it more in the second half of the book. I felt that the books I have listened to are better with one male and one female performing the voices rather than a female doing make parts
I have to admit I had not heard of the first book which they refer to at the end of this book which may have been better so that I was more aware of the characters right from the start

Knocked it out of the park
Well done on making the second book just as good if not better then the first! Laughed out loud at points. The characters feel even more real in this book and will miss them until the next one comes out. Lesley Manville is brilliant as the narrator!!

Excellent
Wonderful to relive all the characters of the Thursday Murder Club in this new book. I do hope another book is in the pipeline. The narrator is fabulous, for voice is very calming and does each characters very well. I have a big soft spot for Bogdan and if there's a 3rd book i hope he's included. Highly recommended read.

Sheer entertainment and thrills
You’ve done it again the dream team Richard Osman and Leslie Manville. A plot full of twists and turns that keeps you guessing. Loveable complex characters so ingeniously fleshed out. With just the right amount of romance, intrigue and comedy interwoven. What more could you want? Thank you Richard! Your writing and stories are refreshing and so entertaining. I also admire the respect you have for our senior characters who are thoughtful, fun, humorous, extremely intelligent and still insightful. Full credit. Can’t wait for the next book!

What a joy!!
This second book in the Thursday Murder Club series is just as wonderful as the first. Together they have been a source of joy, escape and life-affirming experiences during the Covid years.
Osman’s gentle brand of ironic humour permeates both books and the measured speed of Lesley Manville’s gorgeous reading gives the listener time to savour each character, and to fall In love with most of them. Can’t wait for number 3 to arrive. Highly recommended!
