Publisher's Summary

A mystery wrapped in a myth about the origins of humanity. A race to find an ancient pyramid hidden in plain sight. A secret so dangerous its guardians will kill to protect it. And an ancient covenant that might save the world, or destroy it completely.

In 1655, a group of explorers from the Emerald Star entered the Namibian Desert in search of an ancient relic rumored to be hidden in a secret temple. None of the crew ever returned - but stories of their mysterious demise continued to be told.

In the present-day Turkish subterranean city of Derinkuyu, a strange wooden placard is discovered floating in an old well. It’s covered in the script of a language long forgotten, but Sam Reilly has seen the text before. The words suggest an ancient race might still exist, and are in the process of building a new temple. The question is - is it the same temple where Dr. Billie Swan is being held prisoner?

The third temple

This is a good book.It is rather long,so pay attention while listening.SO many of his former adventures merge in this story that it leaves you breathless by the end! Fast paced fun. David Gilmore was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Awesome Book!

The Third Temple by Christopher Cartwright is absolutely gripping. I love the character of Sam Reilly and immediately get pulled into the book. I love how the author weaves history into fiction with so many outstanding elements. The imagery is incredible. I have never really thought of the Four Horsemen until listening to this book, and I was hooked. The descriptions in this story had me visualizing so much. David Gilmore is the perfect narrator for this book and series. He is so talented giving the various characters distinguishable voices and portraying the fitting emotions. This was such a great listen! On a side note, this is not the last of the Four Horsemen.

Awesome Entertainment

I was given this free review copy audio-book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This review is for the audio copy of The Third Temple - Sam Reilly, Book 7 by Christopher Cartwright and narrated by David Gilmore. Book 7 continues the adventures of Sam and Tom and company. This was very entertaining with lots of adventure, exploring and mayhem. Diving in the desert? I am still enjoying the story within the stories. David is consistent with his superlative narration.

Sam Reilly always delivers

Sam Reilly always delivers. This describes the characters and the books. Whenever I start a book from this series, I always know that I will be entertained, and I will learn something. Sometimes I learn because of what is described in the books, and sometimes it is because I have to see if there is any factual basis for something in the books. But I always learn something. This book is another great addition. We learn more about the master builders, and a little more about the characters on Sam's crew. And, as always, there are all the things I have come to expect from one of these novels...action, adventure, and fun. I like the narration, and enjoy the way Gilmore plays with the relationship between Sam and Tom. I was given a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review, which I voluntarily leave here.

Extraordinary

I received a free code to listen to this book and I did so willingly O my word... this book was so all consuming and I did enjoy it immensely. I do like the way it ended, because now I look forward to hearing more of what will become of all the known characters and the unknown to follow. Thank you Christopher Cartwright for well written stories and David Gilmore you are really an excellent narrator. you make these books come to life. I feel part of these adventures.

Leftover threads start to weave together

This is the 7th Sam Reilly book. Oddly enough in this one, Sam doesn't show up until nearly 1/3 of the way into the story. Still a great adventure that hints at the origins of man and the Master Race that has been a part of many of the previous books. The story was a great adventure. My only detraction from the listen is still the Narrator, David Gilmore. As I've stated in previous books, he has an odd way phrasing things at times and some of the voices he uses are rather odd and don't fit the characters in places. One in particular is kind of monotone, but high pitched and everything he says sounds like a question. I'm not totally dissing him, his narration itself is pretty good, it's just the voices that really get odd at times. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great read

The Third Temple, my seventh read from author Christopher Cartwright & the seventh book in the highly entertaining Sam Reilly series. Well-written and captivating with well-developed main characters reminding one of Dan Brown’s writing as well as the character of Indiana Jones. I’ll be reading more by this author as I own several more books in the series! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Sam Reilly back at it

So this is my second Sam Reilly book, after first reading 15. I don't know why I did this to myself but here it goes: Sam Reilly is an adventurer in a world with a mix of science and legend. The book has some really interesting plot points and you can see how many of the books tie in together but I think you'd be much better off with starting on book #1 The narration is also pretty decent. I was given a code in exchange for my review.

A good listen over all.

Fast paced enough to be able to ignore the sometimes clunky grammar, and odd ending. Cracking good yarn, I am enjoying the series altogether.

Adventure, Action and Mystery.

Another thrilling outing for Sam Reilly and his specialist team. The novel spans hundreds if not thousands of years in time and moves between the coast and desert of Namibia to Turkey. Lots of threads converge to give a thrilling climax with action a plenty in-between. This is a very well written and narrated adventure giving the listener a great overall experience.

The action and adventure is excellent!

I love the ongoing theme of the master builders and this book explores them a little more than we usually get. It's an excellent ongoing theme within all the Sam Reilly books. I can't wait for us to get to the point where we an be completely dedicated to them in some form of finale. But equally the Same Reilly books are such a great series that I don't want them to end. I think it has an excellent level of pace mixed with twists and is basically a really clever action book I don't want to give away any plot points so I'm trying to talk about it without talking about it so I don't spoil it. Each book hooks me that bit more because we explore this great plethora of characters who all have depth and their own well defined characters. The author knows the importance of needing a lead character balanced with a great ensemble of well defined friends and enemies. A really good story only adds to the appeal! David Gilmore is quite simply an excellent narrator. From a voice that you can just listen to, to the ability to give life to each of the characters and to draw you into the story - you can't really ask for more! This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
