Best so far!

I loved The House on Tradd Street and The Girl on Legare Street, but I believe The Strangers on Montagu Street is my favorite of the three in this series. I listened to the entire book in just a little over 24 hours - and it's not like I didn't have anything else to do! I admit to being somewhat surprised by how much I enjoy this series. I usually listen to history, or historical fiction. I am a West coast person who has never even visited Charleston. But when I listen to Aimee Bruneau's excellent narration I can feel the sunlight, smell the flowers, and picture the neighborhoods so clearly. I felt a little sad as this book neared the end because I doubted there would be a 4th installment - but I was thrilled to hear "to be continued" at the closing.
If you like a touch of the paranormal that isn't so scary that it will make you hide under the covers at night, this series is just right. There is romance, but it's not overwhelming. Brava Ms. White!

Needed,one good editor!

I liked the story,it was fun, light but very frustrating! It could def been 2-3 hours shorter. The repetitions added time that did nothing for the story. I blame editing. The biggest take is these ppl must be a frustrated bunch, not being able to speak their minds. Plus they must have awfully tired eyebrows. Someone starts to speak when, “she/he raised their eyebrows...” or they gave a look,or shook their heads or any number of ways to shut them up. It really got ridiculous. The long drawn out back and forth with Jack and Mellie was super annoying. These ppl are ADULTS! OLDER adults. Their actions were more like teens. She’s 40 for gods sake, but thoughts of sex, kissing etc for Mel were written like she was soooo naive. A good editor should have tightened these things up. This may be petty, a veteran author should past filler like this. So when you listen, see if you can keep track of the bouncing eyebrows, it will add to the fun or make you want to scream!

Best book yet

Would you listen to The Strangers On Montagu Street again? Why?

I would listen to this whole series again, and especially this book! I can listen to Aimee Bruneau read in her melodic Southern voice for hours. The story itself is intricate and merits the extra attention of another read.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Strangers On Montagu Street?

Karen White does such a great job in painting a creepy picture. The description of the Montagu house and the ghost in the turret will stick with me for a long time.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was right after Nola's meltdown, when Melany was trying to comfort the poor girl and Jack sat in the other room listening. It was so sweet and heartfelt.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I found myself doing extra dishes and folding extra laundry to give me an excuse to keep the earbuds in my ears!

Any additional comments?

The third book ends with a big question mark! I will be waiting anxiously for book four!

Loved it!

This is a continuing story from a book I read a couple years ago. That was a nice surprise since I enjoyed the first book in the series. This is a great story that kept my interest throughout.

Predictable storyline but GREAT performance

Southern accent was just perfection! I loved how she did each one and made them all so believable. The story line itself was a bit predictable which I found frustrating. I knew what “stop her” meant and what’d happened to the brother and fiancée once the description of each of them was given. It was still a good story and I was delighted by the “I am right” experience when my predictions were in fact, correct.

Love

I live these books but smelly tends to be the biggest emotional coward ever and it gets a touch annoying at times. I do however continue to enjoy them.

Self absorbed, drug out, mary sue . Would be ok if deftly but ruthlessly edited
