About this listen

This dark psychological fantasy is more than a moral tale. It is also a product of its time, drawing on contemporary theories of class, evolution and criminality, and the secret lives behind Victorian propriety, to create a unique form of urban Gothic.

Kidnapped and Treasure Island were much better R.L Stevenson books in my view. I probably wouldn't bother reading or listening to this one again all the narrator is very good.

Not my favourite R.L Stevenson book and short stories I'm afraid but a very good narrator.

Michael Kitchen (aka DCS Foyle !!) does a great job to re-energise a classic tale that somehow never did quite cut it for me as a reading book, even if I am a fan of RLS.

Brilliantly narrated by Michael Kitchen

Jekyll and Hyde is a brilliant story, but equally matched by the body snatchers and Ollala also contained here in. excellently narrated.

ollala, a lost gem
