Chapters in wrong order!!!
I would have given this book 5 stars BUT SEVERAL OF THE CHAPTERS ARE READ IN THE WRONG ORDER!!! This is very frustrating and confusing. You hear things that don’t make sense, find out things in the wrong way, etc. it even says The End and then the narrator reads a couple more chapters. The storyline was so good I think I will buy the sequel anyway and just hope it doesn’t have the same problem.

What a great informative story
I was not real familiar with the kinder transport but as a parent myself I hurt for the parents who had to let their children go to a safe place. They had to live not knowing when or if they would ever see them again I loved her characters and the goodness of the Irish people in accepting these Jewish children. Looking forward to the sequel Mrs Grainger is my new favorite author. Also there is no sex or profanity in her books. Her stories are so good she doesn’t have need for gratuitous sex scenes. Sign of a great novelist

Lovely read
This is the second series I have started to read. I love the the narrators melodic voice. So pleasant to listen too. I found myself wishing I had such a soothing voice. Even though it is fictional book I am sure the facts of how the Irish communities coped during war times and their way of life.has some truth to it.

Great story
I have read all of Jean Graingers audio books, and have enjoyed them all, and this one was no exception. Its the story of two Jewish children, who find themselves under the protection of an Irish cousin, in Northern Ireland, for the duration of WW2. If I had a criticism - its that the heroine Elizabeth, the cousin, is just too good and always seems to do the right thing. Still there are a few baddies in the story line, to add some balance, but Jean Grainger still manages to find some good in them too. So if you are looking for a feel good historical read - despite the terrible tragedy that befell the Jewish population during the War, then read on and lose yourself for a while.
