Story
At the school gate, when she accidentally kissed one new friend on the nose and called another a "beautiful man-horse", Rachael realized that small-town France could hardly be more different to Australia. The smell of cigarettes replaced the tang of bone-broth and sprouted sourdough, the neighbors sometimes came to blows and under no circumstances would anyone wear active wear in public. Muddling through in terrible French pushed Rachael's family to their limits. Some days, everybody cried and ate their feelings with croissants. But the town of Sommières embraced these ragtag Australians.

The Fall Between
- By Lisa Maree Tindale on 05-05-2023
Publisher's Summary
'Is marriage just a series of texts about where the children are and whether we need milk until one of you dies?'
Susannah Parks - wife, mother, cleaner of surfaces and runner of household - is a viola virtuoso. Except she hasn't picked up a viola for over a decade. She has, however, picked up a lot of Lego, socks, wet towels and other exhibits of mundanity. She has also picked up on the possibility that her husband has lost interest in her. (And frankly, she's not very interested in Susannah Parks either.) But this year, she has resolved to be very interesting. Also thoughtful, useful, cheerful, relevant, self-sufficient, stylish, alluring and intelligent.
In her highly confidential diary, Susannah documents the search for the elusive spark in her marriage, along with all the high and low notes of life with her four beloved children, with her free-spirited (and world famous) best friend Ria, and with Hugh, the man who fills her heart with burning passion and her washing pile with shirts.
And perhaps amid the chaos she might be brave enough to find the missing pieces of herself.
WARNING: Contains strong language, sex scenes and fantasies about husbands unpacking the dishwasher.

So much to love!
Universal themes tackled with humour and grace. The Sparkle Pages treads lightly but with such insight that I was left satisfied and yet changed by Susanna’s journey. Make no mistake, this comedy isn’t just fluff. It’s packed with reality, depth and joy in just the right balance. I look forward to more from this author.

A world of music, emotion, and so many sparkles
Not my usual cup of tea, but listened to it for something different. I am not normally a fan of the diary style narrative, and yet, I found I enjoyed the listen a lot more than expected. The characters are each unique and well rounded, the plot manages to keep from growing stale, and the author's passion for music and poetry bleed through the story without drowning the reader. Bignell effortlessly shares her delight, her love, her sorrow, and her humour in bringing the cast to life. Several points had me chuckling, and the ending saw me shed a few tears. Well worth the read.

My first Audio book
I’ve always loved to read. I avoided audio books for such a long time. When I first began this one I struggled. I kept losing focus and I missed “reading”
However the story won me over and I began looking forward to the time I had to spend most in it. I was so sad when it finished. Not sure if i will download more or not but I so loved this. All because of the story. I gasped. I cried. I laughed. I loved. Thank you
